Destiny's New 'Twilight Gap' Crucible Map Revealed

With the Destiny beta done and dusted, Bungie has revealed a new multiplayer map for the game's Crucible mode; a mid-sized map called 'Twilight Gap' that's situated in an abandoned military facility, nestled high in a snowcapped mountain range.

"The Twilight Gap is an abandoned military base that's on the outskirts of the last city, so you'll see the traveler in the skybox, the first thing you're going to see in the establishing shot when we first come here," Lead Designer Lars Bakken revealed to IGN. "The city's over there, you'll see the wall off in the distance, you'll see the mountains, and this place is one of the places that humanity has overtaken again and has reclaimed back."

You can take a look at the Earth-based Twilight Gap map in the gameplay videos below. It'll be playable across all Crucible multiplayer modes when Destiny launches on September 9th for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC. Watch our Destiny beta videos here.

  • September 9th: y u no get here faster??
  • After the fun I had with the beta, september 9th can't come soon enough.
  • I'm still a bit on the fence about this. To all of you who played the beta: how was it? What's good about the game? What's bad? Does the story feel solid or is it more of simple narrative bringing maps/abjectives together to string you along? To me this still has a bit of a Borderlands feel to it, and although I had a lot of fun playing Borderlands with a friend, the nonsensical "story" never did much for me. I hope Destiny is good, I want it to be good. Let me know.
  • @3 its a beta - your not gona get the full gripe of ie story bad good, its just giving you a teaser - yes its good as above its quite fun , worth a buy
  • I wish they kept the beta open a little longer, cause I already miss it dearly.
  • @3 & 'or is it more of simple narrative bringing maps/abjectives together to string you along?' This is the impression I have too. Think I will wait for the review, as I get bored pretty quickly without a decent story.
  • @3 I went from being a person that was not really interested in this game, to being a person that was absolutely Pissed off when the beta ended. I was a Halo fan from the very first release of the Halo series so I knew it was going to be a similar type game, even though I kinda went off the Halo buzz some time ago but only because of the interest of other games. I got the chance of a free code for the Beta so I used it just to see what it was all about and I have to say I was blown away from the start. First of all it was hard to believe after a while that it was a beta because there was so much to do I literally could not stop play it.
  • My opinion on Destiny is that it has a Borderlands/Halo/Defiance feel to it. Borderlands in the way mission/side missions are laid out. Defiance in the way of random events dropping in for all players in the area to swarm to. Borderlands/Defiance in terms of character upgrading and loot drops. And Halo in terms of story from what i gathered from the first few missions, and the multiplayer. That's just my interpretation of it. To sum up. It's the bollocks!
  • That's great and all but I really wish I didn't keep getting that "Bee" error all the time when playing Crucible, I mean I WOULD actually like to get a full match in at one point. And this was with a perfect connection too. Oh well, maybe it'll be better in the full game?
  • This is PS4 footage. I would like to see how the X1 version is shaping up.
  • I'm glad they opened up the beta to all. It allowed me and my wife to play together on the 360. When I was playing by myself on the One, I was very on the fence and almost cancelled my pre-order. After 5-6 hours of playing with her on Sunday, we were both sad to see it end. She's now contemplating getting a One for herself so we can play this together. It reminds me of Borderlands in that it's just OK if you're solo, but it's soooo much better with friends.
  • @10 Even at 900p for the Beta I was blown away at the rendering on the X1. The game looks fantastic. Definitely no complaints from me. For comparison my TV is a 1080p, 120 Hz, LED.
