Devolver Digital has officially announced that retro reboot Shadow Warrior will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 in late-September, with Namco Bandai Games set to distribute the game in Europe and Australasia. Based on the 1997 classic, the Shadow Warrior reboot is billed as a "contemporary retelling" of Lo Wang's "comical rise to legend".
Telling the story of Lo Wang, Zilla Enterprises' corporate shogun, as he's ordered to track down and acquire a legendary blade. Learning of the weapon's connection to ancient gods from another realm, Lo Wang is forced into a battle that pushes the world to the brink of destruction. Wang won't be alone on his quest, however, as he's joined by banished spirit, Hoji.
Promising enjoyable gun, blade and magic combat mechanics, Shadow Warrior also adds revamped visuals, a new Arena Mode, all-new campaign and bonus weapons exclusive to the console version, including Serious Sam 3's sledgehammer, Hotline Miami's katana, the 'Zilla Enterprises Z45 katana' and 'classic Shadow Warrior katana'.
Shadow Warrior will be coming to Xbox One and PS4 for $39.99 on September 23rd in North America and September 26th in Europe. Check out some new screenshots below.
