An industrious scamp over on Reddit has tracked down data from someone who has delved into the Destiny beta's code, unearthing a veritable cornucopia of potential details from the number of story missions to the variety of locations and multiplayer modes. It's worth noting that these are likely tentative numbers, and the finished game could include more than what's suggested here. It is only based on the beta, after all, although it's odd that this info would be included in the code.
According to the data mined from the Destiny beta, there could potentially be 32 story missions spread across five locations and several Crucible multiplayer modes including Clash (possibly Team Deathmatch) and Salvage with 13 maps apiece. Other multiplayer modes include Control with 17 maps, Skirmish with 16 maps (3v3 head-to-head between two Fireteams) and 15 maps assigned to the Rumble mode, which we suspect might be a free-for-all Deathmatch.
It's also thought that there will be five instances of a social area like the Tower - presumably one per planet - and some planets could have their own moons like Jupiter's Europa ice moon. Locations confirmed thus far include Earth, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. Five instances of Explore, two Raids and 23 Strikes are also noted in the code.
Destiny's level cap was also thought to top out at 20 judging by items included in the beta, suggesting that that same cap could apply to the game. It appears that won't be the case if a tweet from Bungie Community and Marketing guy Eric Osborne is any kind of an indication.
Does this mean Destiny's level will exceed 20? It looks that way. That said, we'd still chalk this lot up as rumour for now. Destiny will be heading to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3 on September 9th. Get our beta video coverage here.
