Crytek has issued a statement offering clarfication on Crytek UK's status following Koch Media's acquisition of the Homefront IP earlier today and development duties on the upcoming Homefront: The Revolution. Crytek notes that in accordance with UK law, all Crytek UK staff will transfer to Deep Silver (presumably the publisher's newly-formed studio Dambusters Studios) to continue work on Homefront: The Revolution.
As a result, Crytek will no longer have a presence in the UK. Crytek USA's Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age will also be affected, as development on the game will now transfer from the firm's studio in Austin, Texas to Crytek's offices in Frankfurt, Germany. Crytek USA will be scaled back to provide support only for North American CryEngine licenses. Members of staff not on the support team can apply for a position at Crytek in Frankfurt.
"We would like to thank all our staff – past and present – in both Nottingham and Austin for their contributions to the company, and we wish all the very best to anyone who may no longer be under the Crytek banner moving forward," Crytek CEO Cervat Yerli said in today's statement.
Crytek studios in Budapest, Istanbul, Kiev, and Sofia are unaffected and will continue to operate as usual, while Shanghai and Seoul studos will be subject to review for "closer collaboration." Crytek recently offered an update on its financial situation, noting that it had acquired funds to secure its long-term future.
We'll have more on Homefront: The Revolution as we get it. The game is due to launch in 2015.
