Get ready to revisit Racoon City, as Capcom has announced an enhanced version of the first Resident Evil for current and next-gen consoles, as well as PC.
The game is a prettied up remake of the 2002 GameCube version of Shinji Mikami’s classic survival horror title, which itself was an enhanced version of the 1996 original. Confused? Basically, it’s gonna look good.
“Using the latest resolution enhancement and 3D model technology, game resolutions and textures have been significantly upgraded, including 1080p support on next-gen consoles, resulting in characters and backgrounds coming to life in greater detail than ever seen before in Resident Evil,” says the blurb.
“Not only will the graphics impress but the tense sound effects have been fully remastered with 5.1 surround support for a greater gaming atmosphere.”
In addition to this, players can also choose either a new, revamped control scheme or the classic method we all wrestled with at launch. Both the original 4:3 aspect ratio or a “stunning” new 16:9 widescreen mode will also be available.
The game will be available digitally in 2015. First images below.
