Rise of the Tomb Raider Listed for Xbox 360 Release

Rise of the Tomb Raider is listed for release on Xbox 360 by xbox.com. The game was previously listed for release on Xbox 360 by Amazon.

So far, Square Enix has only directly referenced the next-gen version of the game. However, Microsoft’s wording of the exclusivity deal announced yesterday is perhaps another hint at the true release platforms.

“Rise of the Tomb Raider is exclusive on Xbox for Holiday 2015,” is the line coming out of Gamescom 2014, carefully skirting around the length of the exclusivity period and the Xbox platforms the game will appear on.

Reading between the lines, Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One this “Holiday 2015” before hitting other platforms at a later date, though again this is not confirmed.

Wouldn’t it be nice if publishers and platform holders didn’t wrap everything up in half-truths and carefully worded bullshit?

  • Ewwwww. What the hell!?
  • Cue but hurt bumboys
  • Lame. Now Xbox one gets a water downed version of the game. Fun fun.
  • Thought this was supposed to be and Xbox exclusive?
  • FFS I have played 2 games on my Xbox One that were 'next-gen' only. TWO, and they were launch games (DR3 and Ryse). Everything else has been cross-gen. I queued up for hours when I should have been in bed to buy a new console, may as well have gone to sleep and waited for the price reductions. Even Titanfall - which got me all wet and sticky - was always being planned for 360, they just waited a while to announce it.
  • Ewwwww is right. This makes me so sad for life.
  • Fuck the last-gen ... seriously, get with the times. The people that have shelled out £450+ for a next-gen console, shouldn't have to play this watered down, mediocre toss just because you won't fork out for a new console.
  • hope this does just come to xbox and doesnt go to playstation would be another game to the ever growing list of great games that ps4 wont get.
  • Square Enix is a company that's hurting for money, why did you think they would limit their sales options? The first game sold so poorly, it didn't make a profit until they released the Xbox One and PS4 versions for $60. If releasing it on Xbox360, PS3, and PC didn't make them any profit, why would they limit themselves with the sequel?...
  • @7 your own fault for bein impatient. And lets be honest if you were the developer would you release your game for a console that has sold 5 million or for a console that has sold 60million plus? Its just business sense
  • @7 Hate to break it to you, but the middle classes of the 1st world are getting poorer. Those who can afford the next gen are in the minority, stayed mad you rich cunts
  • To everyone bitching about this getting a 360 version... You are kidding yourself if you think any Xbox One exclusive title would reach full potential before 2015 anyway. This sequel was announced in 2013. No game that began development in 2013 or 2014 would harness the full potential of the newer consoles. All games are going to be limited until developers fully understand what can be done on XB1/PS4. New gen versions are barely more than graphical upgrades over old gen versions anyway.
