Yup I got mine, wonder if they plan to do something like this every yearMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:21 AM
Got mine, nice little surprise over the weekend. I never played it on the 360 and am very much enjoying it between sessions of GTA V and Far Cry 4Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:21 AM
Great game!Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:28 AM
Gotta admit Microsoft being nice recently which in this industry makes a changeMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:29 AM
I haven't yet, tho several of my X1 owning chums have. I have the Day One achievement, but no LIMBO for me. Gutted, I'd rather that over the crappy free wallpaper and gamerpic I got.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:29 AM
It's random. I have the Day One achievement and got nothing. Think it is just a lucky few who are getting the codes - rather like the fact some people are winning other games and consoles etc.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:32 AM
If you go to the game's store page, its release date is listed as 12/01. This is bringing the conspiracy theorists out that it'll be December's GWG. Now, if this ends up being true, this "gift" for us being the first people to get the console would kind of be a slap in the face. "Thanks for spending $500 before anyone else, here's something free a week earlier than everyone else!" I'm hoping it's a coincidence... amazing game though, glad to play it again.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:34 AM
@ #7 was just about to say this js the new GWG lolMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:38 AM
I wish MS would fix the email preferences. I stopped receiving emails from them around them a while ago and I'm still opted in to receive them... Does anyone else have this issue? I'm using an @aol.com email address so that might be the issue? I have no clue so ANY help is appreciated.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:51 AM
Having the Xbox One Day One achievement is a load of crap. I've got it, yet I have not received any code or notice about the game. Just got given some shitty wallpapers. This seems like it's just another random giveaway, which has been done poorly . 9 years on XBL and a DO owner, yet no code here.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:17 PM
Got mine! Altho after playing it for a few minutes it's already starting to creep me out a lil.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:18 PM
I got mine today. If your set to get one you should have a message from them saying you will receive a code. I got the message on Saturday and got my code this morning. 8 yrs on xbl and day one owner.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:19 PM
Forgot to mention it's not emailed it's sent via a xbox live message.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:26 PM
To much folk moaning not getting a freebie, spoiled children. Its a nice thought but when I brought an XB1 or a PS4 the thought of what freebies I'll get down the line didn't cross my mind.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:29 PM
I got this, I did buy on day one console but sold the achievement on ebay, so you do not need the achievement for this rewardMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:30 PM
Creepy as fuck and a lot better than the usual side scroller shite we've been getting.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:30 PM
I'm glad i didnt get a code got far to much to play as it is :LMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:32 PM
I have the day one achievement but due to the code in the box not working it wasn't on my profile till December. Of my friends who also preordered an Xbox One I was the only one who didn't get the Killer Instinct launch freebie. I haven't asked them all about Limbo yet but so far its heading the same way.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:38 PM
If it turns out to be the free game for December man that would be a huge punch to the face to early buyers of the systemMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:39 PM
@EchoPark. As with the Killer Instinct giveaway it was how it is worded that irritate me. That time it was "loyal fans" and I knew gamers who had only been playing Xbox for a couple of years who received free Xbox One consoles. I would prefer they had said "random" prizes rather than not getting included as a "loyal fan". This time they have said "early adopter" which ( as everyone is reporting ) suggests it would be all those who bought a console around the release.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:42 PM
I've been a gold subscriber 5 years. I should also have Limbo. This is bullshit.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:45 PM
I bought mine day one, have the achievement and didn't get a code, but my mrs account got sent one for some reason. Which I redeemed on mine. lol. No idea why she got it and I didn't. Her profile was only added about 5 months ago. So being a day one owner makes no differenceMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:48 PM
Score! Pants, you better be wrong!!Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:48 PM
Just checked account and I now have a code for limbo. typical appears 5 minutes after saying I did not get one.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 12:53 PM
I think you have to be an early adopter AND in the update preview program to get a Limbo code.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:09 PM
Me and my gf both got one even though I'm the only one with the day one achievement (only one code in the box) so it may work if you used an x1 on the day of release also.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:10 PM
@26: You do not need to be part of the preview program, as I am not a member, but received my code yesterday.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:19 PM
@7 They didn't have to give early adopters anything. Even if Limbo is the GWG for Dec I personally don't see it as a "slap in the face". Should be grateful for anything these days, Sony did nothing for their early adopters.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:35 PM
Didn't get anything.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:37 PM
@29 that's because Sony dodnt knock £100 off the price and throw in a free AAA game within 6 months of release like MS didMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:38 PM
I got the code yesterday morning and I hold the Day One achievement.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:45 PM
@31 At the end of the day MS didn't have to give us anything. It was our choice to purchase the console early, complaining about having a gift is just a but entitled in my opinion, regardless of if other games also recieve it or not. We get monthly updates as well as a free game every single month, we get our moneys worth. MS have thanked the fans and given the early adopters a few little gifts, so what if the FREE GAME becomes available to other xbox users a week later, it's still a nice gesture.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:51 PM
That's really cool. Hopefully it does come out as the GWG in December. Would love to play this again.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:52 PM
Tentire of 10 yrs, xbox preview programme member, opted in for emails, day one achievement ON LAUNCH DAY and purchased limbo on 360. NO CODE.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 01:57 PM
I didn't get Limbo, but I did get a free month of EA Access.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 02:02 PM
Brutal game is BRUTAL.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 02:19 PM
don't have the day one achievement but I did get the console day one and I got limbo freeMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 02:23 PM
No code but then I'd probably not get around to playing it anyway!Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 02:26 PM
Yup, got mine. I love that little creepy game. :-)Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 02:47 PM
I got my code on Sunday and I hope MS opens this up to everyone. I don't feel that I'm owed anything for buying something that I wanted. I'm grateful that I got it free / early, but I'm hoping everyone gets a free copy of this awesome game. It was nice experiencing it again yesterday.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:03 PM
@22 should've bought the xbox one at launch. You want limbo go buy itMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:06 PM
Why? ,... why, why? WHY? I bougth mine in february, had no way of getting it before that, i want the free game also.. only ppl with day one chivo will get free games and stuff. Wat?Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:16 PM
@22 5 years?!?! They owe you so much, you should call them and demand all the free stuff! What an outrage!! ~sarcasmMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:20 PM
I've been buying gas for years and Exxon hasn't given me a damn thing. This is bullshit!Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:30 PM
Got mine!Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:32 PM
This comments section is fucking hilarious. I think it's really cool for them to give out free games to randomly selected early adopters. Even if it's just a week advance on the next GWG, it's a nice fucking gift - chill out, people. I also don't understand these people who are complaining they bought Limbo on the Xbox 360 and aren't getting it free early on the Xbox One. You've already played the damn game and it's identical on the Xbox One! Oh well. Thank you Microsoft for your random and appreciated gift. Things like this are why I have a 7 year tenure on Xbox Live :)Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 03:45 PM
I just saw the Xbox Live message containing the code for Limbo. Thank you Microsoft, as I didn't get around to getting it on 360.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 04:00 PM
Agreed #47. I purchased the Day One console on launch day and have the achievement to prove it. I also have around 8-9 years gold sub. I was expecting fuck all, and would not have minded. I did get one, and am chuffed but I don't think I'd have been a part of the mass hysteria had I not. Get a grip people, get a grip.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 04:31 PM
Don't have the Day One status as I got my One in December. I just received the freebie pics/limited view videos. oh well.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 04:39 PM
Gamerscore of 114000+, thousands spent on games both hard copy and digital, hundreds spent over 3 generations of consoles and contollers/accessories etc and I got a fucking poster as my free gift. Microsoft are cunts but maybe one day they will give me something half decent for all my custom.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 05:00 PM
@51 Sounds like you have plenty of games to play already.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 05:33 PM
Yep and got 900/1000 so far. Great game and love the mood/vibe of the game.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 05:52 PM
I received Limbo through a message on XBL. My brother who bought XB1 day 1 received Dance Central....Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 06:54 PM
lol 8 years of service, day one owner, lots of games, and not even an email from microsoft.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 07:07 PM
I got the code and redeemed, where do I download the game?Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 07:13 PM
I got it.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 07:16 PM
Entitled and Ungrateful That's all "gamers" have becomeMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 07:37 PM
I will agree that if this is going to be free with the next set of games with gold, this is a slap to the face. If it'd been an extremely hyped NEW game, then fair enough, but trying to make people feel good, just to then do the same for everyone isn't really a nice thing.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 08:26 PM
Disappointed that I didn't get anything except for the gamerpic and the wallpaper . But after reading #14 I just double checked my Xbox messages . And there it is - limbo free code :)Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 09:19 PM
Got itMonday, November 24, 2014 @ 09:20 PM
I agree with #7. The message with the code even thanks you for being an Xbox One early adopter. So to give us early buyers a free game (with the assumed premise that we are receiving it exclusively for buying a console early) only one week before you give it to everyone else for free would be kind of shady.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 09:23 PM
Got it yesterday. The day before they notified me I'd be getting one to boot. Gotta love it.Monday, November 24, 2014 @ 11:30 PM
I'm not entirely sure how it works but I got the free code for limbo and last year when they were selecting people for free Xbox ones I got a free console and it arrived on day one but did not have the day one achievement with it.Tuesday, November 25, 2014 @ 01:01 AM
I got the free Limbo code, however I do not have the day one achievement as others have mentioned. I did purchase my xbox on day one but got the standard edition. I got a couple achievements for dead rising 3 & Killer Instinct on the first day, I guess that shows I have been playing since day one. The free code just says thanks for being an early adapter of the xbox one.Tuesday, November 25, 2014 @ 03:09 AM
Yes.Tuesday, November 25, 2014 @ 06:42 AM
Haven't downloaded it yet but yes I haveTuesday, November 25, 2014 @ 08:29 AM
got mine. didn't even know it until late last night and i saw i had an unread message. quick and easy 1000 but still a great gameThursday, November 27, 2014 @ 08:38 AM
@52 I do have atm but I'm still bitter about when they gave put free consoles and Killer Instinct etc that I received nothing. Not that I felt entitled beforehand just that I had read it was based on things like years on XBL and Gamerscore etc. Then I got this xbox one birthday email saying I had earned a free xbox one year one poster. Very lame. I haven't had a poster on my wall since I was about 7 years old lol

Check your inboxes. Over the weekend, Microsoft began distributing copies of the moody platformer Limbo to Xbox One.
While Microsoft has not made any official announcements, it would appear that recipients are all in possession of the Xbox One Day One achievement. That means that if you pre-ordered an Xbox One at launch, odds are you’ll have received a copy of Limbo.
Interestingly, Limbo hasn’t been announced for Xbox One. A Korean Game Rating Board classification pointed to an upcoming release, but there’s been no official word. And that’s still true. As it stands, the only way you can get Limbo on Xbox One is via Microsoft’s generosity.
We imagine that will all change fairly soon. Xbox One celebrated its first birthday over the weekend. You can find the biggest stories from the console’s first 12 months on sale through here.
