The latest update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is in its final stages of testing, says 343 Industries. The update hopes to improve matchmaking, stability, party and invite systems and more.

“As we announced previously, this content update includes fundamental changes to the aforementioned systems, and making and validating these changes requires substantial time beyond what was required for prior updates,” said 343i on Halo Waypoint.

“We’re happy with the progress on the next CU, with significant progress being made on big and small issues, and we’re being diligent in gameplay and stress testing to ensure that it is a meaningful update.”

A release date for the update has not yet been set in stone, but the studio is promising an update soon.

“Last week, Team Snipers replaced SWAT as the featured playlist, and we expanded Rumble Pit to add Halo 3 and Halo 4,” added 343i. “Many of you have asked why SWAT nor Team Snipers have Halo 3 variants included, and this is due to a Halo 3-specific issue regarding non-default map variants that we’re working to fix.”

“Once resolved, custom map variants (tournament maps, maps with specific on-map weapons, Forge maps, etc.) will be included into permanent and featured playlists.”

  • still waiting for them to make the achievement for playing a match after your first match 3 months later to be fixed
  • Fuck 343i and fuck this game. Disgusted beyond belief with this mess.
  • @1 Coop campaign has worked pretty much fine for me and my friend halo 1 2 and 3 all done on legendary with barley a hiccup
  • @4 consider yourself lucky then. i have had connection issues, framerate issues, crashes, achievement issues. i did get all the campaigns done on legendary despite all the issues but still had plenty of them halo 3 by far was the worst with its terrible framerate
  • Honestly at this point I'm pretty happy with how matchmaking and party is right now. they could still be better of course but it is loads better than it was at launch. I'm dying for an update to the individual games though. Halo: CE has aiming problems. Halo 2 Classic hit registration is off and don't forget "Respawn in 4 seconds". Halo 3's audio is awful and so is Halo 4's. All of these games have power weapon reload bugs as well. Sure a matchmaking update is nice, but what's going to happen when someone wants to play the game(s) they know and love just to find out they don't work as intended? They're going to start up Netflix or play a different game.
  • This update is probably too little, too late for me. 343i has damaged the good reputation of their franchise as a whole with this fiasco. Halo 5 will be the first time ever that I pass on a Halo release at launch, and I must say I don't regret the decision. The issues at launch for the MCC were unacceptable, but for them to linger this long shows incompetence on a scale I haven't experienced before in the industry.
  • Cool can't wait to play some severe lag free coop. Frustrating but not to the level of the complainers. Maybe I just have more coping mechanisms? Still good news. Lessons learned I hope.
  • Sorry for being a noob, but is there no random matchmaking for the campaign? and is there a reason why. thanks
  • 343 fucked up big time it almost killed the Halo Franchise for me . I remember when the MCC came out I took a day off with my best friend to play through the campaign and enjoy some multiplayer and it was the worst online experience I ever had in a Game. I hope some people lost there job for a fuck up like this I know I would have lost it when I would produce so much shit like them
  • people just bitching to bitch. ive had 0 problems with this game and will be getting halo 5 day 1. everyone blames 343 for everything, but how many development crews worked on this game? they put 4 campaigns, 5 multiplayers and new cut scenes into one game and yall expect perfection?
  • I am not happy about the issues with the MCC, however I do not believe 343i has killed the Halo Franchise. Most of the MCC was outsourced to other developers and 343i is picking up the pieces. They never anticipated the MCC to be this big of an issue. It was supposed to be a remember the old days thing. 343i has been 100% Halo 5 and Halo 5 will be amazing. I don't want to hear the rants of how Bungie would have done better. Many of the original Bungie employees that worked on Halo went with the franchise.
  • not playing this game again until they fix the campaign lag
  • IT WILL NEVER BE FIXED
  • I really want this update to fix the game, but the previous updates taught me not to get my hopes up for a fix. @13 Unfortunately that's not something they can completely fix, due to the campaign netcode.
  • Matchmaking, for the most part, is working fine for me. Trying to do Halo 2 co-op over live however, has been a nightmare. It will connect me and my buddy about half the time. Super irritating.
  • I recon half the people threatening to not buy halo at launch will actually buy it..
  • I'll play AW over this any day, sickening that Halo 4 was included, the worse game ever made
  • @16 lol. Dont humor me. as i said before ive had 0 problems with the game. @19 so youd rather play a game with no story, that gets remade 90% the exact same year after year, has the same dlcs, nothing new or innovative, and is the biggest milking machine in gaming than a game with an engaging story and amazing multiplayer? Wow. Just wow.
  • Shrubbery.
  • I tried getting online in matchmaking in the first few days and couldn't find a game... Haven't touched it much since. Maybe once i get back to it it will work.. Lol...
  • @20 Lmao dude halo 4 good multiplayer? Lmao same shit as cod bud halo 4 was the worst in the series as well as that horrific story lmao any real Halo fan knows 2 was good, not 4 4 is trash.
  • @20: Good for you on not having problems. But the rest of us have. If it gets to the point where they give us a free month of Live and promise ODST's campaign as retribution for their failures, then you know they fucked up bad, regardless of your personal experience. I will also pass on Halo 5 unless it is proven to me that it is a triple A game on par with Halo 3. I'd much rather play games like Lords of the Fallen and Devil May Cry that actually work than the half-assed shit 343i gave us.
  • @20 like i said to the other guy consider yourself lucky that you had 0 issues, but just because you had 0 issues doesnt mean every one elses game ran like that you just got lucky or your just blind. like dante said they are giving us ODST for free as an apology amongst other things. go take a trip to the bitching thread and you will see how many people had issues
  • @23, how was the story horrific? It's perfectly fine. and no one said anything about Halo 2 to begin with. And really dude a REAL HALO FAN would enjoy the story as a whole.
  • I've had a few issues with Halo MCC. But nothing that has ruined the experience for me as a newcomer to the series. Each campaign felt epic for different reasons. Halo 2 however, was truly amazing. Them gorgeous cut scenes were a joy. As for MP, I've never been able to get into a Halo 2 game, but have managed to get on Halo 4. Still suck at it though. As for people complaining, I understand that you expect a working game upon release. But take into account the amount of coding that had gone into this. Its a 40GB install, and that is sure to generate bugs along the way. It happens. Yes it is a royal pain in the arse, but I would rather focus on the positive aspects on the game. Like the amount of contention for starters. If games having bugs and being broken upon release irks you that much, then find a new hobby. I tend not to buy a game on release, so I can avoid these issues, and give time to the Developers to release a fix. I would rather achievements unlock when they are supposed too. But that's another story.
  • So far when it comes to single player the game has been fine for me its only when trying to play online with randoms does the game not work sad thing is I don't have anyone to co-op with as they will not get on halo and co-op works for me but still cant use it :/
  • Bungie would have never done this, I want them back :(
  • Shouldn't this be renamed to MFC? Master F**kup Collection? In all seriousness my brother got me this for Christmas and I've been plugging through halo 1 and 2 as I never played them. tried multiplayer for halo 3 once and it took 8 minutes to find a match...unacceptable this day in age!
  • @30 Lol wut? Have you seen what they did to destiny? Bungie isn't the same anymore and they probably screwed themselves by signing a contract with activision. As for MCC, I don't see why everyone is bitching so much. The singleplayer works fine (for me and all my buddies on xbl), the mp still has some hiccups though.
  • Has anyone else been experiencing problems trying to access Playlists on the main menu? For several weeks now each time I've tried to access Playlists a message pops up that says "Updating Playlist Data, please wait" or something like that. I wait and wait and wait and nothing ever happens so eventually I just cancel out. I really hope this latest patch fixes this issue in some way because there are quite a few more playlists I'd like to attempt.
  • @27 tl:dr
  • 3 months and still broken. just unacceptable. boycott halo 5 or at least buy it used 343 doesn't deserve any more money.
  • All 4 games were fine when they were released independently, how can you break something that was fine. 343 are a shit developer.
  • Still not as bad as the Battlefield 4 launch.
  • @38 I dislike battlefield but even battlefield you were able to find a game and lag around.
  • Another busted release. With all these broken fucked up games, what the hell is the incentive to buy an Xbox One? Maybe they'll get the games to work on launch in 2020. Love my 360 and the bolt load of free games I keep getting. You all can keep the One.
