The quest to fix Halo: The Master Chief Collection continues today as 343 Industries rolls out the latest update for the game. This patch, much like the others, is designed to address matchmaking - among many other issues.

As detailed below, via Halo Waypoint, the content update tackles matchmaking performance, stability, success rates, search times and time to match. Party stability is also said to have been improved.

Alongside this, improvements have been made to shot registration in Halo 2, issues around resuming Halo 2 Anniversary campaign play throughs from remastered mode have been “fixed”, medal display consistency has been improved and 343i promises improved campaign stability across a variety of levels too.

In Halo: Combat Evolved, a weird aim assist bug has been fixed, shot registration has been improved and a variety of wonky UI elements (like  team color randomization, medals, and in-game scoreboard display) have been resolved.

Work is already underway on the next Halo: The Master Chief Collection patch. We haven’t been near the game in weeks now. Anyone here still battling through the problems?

  • And no 6 month achievement fixed? I read they patched the checkpoint sharing as well. Thats good, as i want to do it legit.
  • I still can't unlock the achievement for playing 3 months after your first time.
  • Happy to see they are at least trying. When this game first came out I couldnt even play and when I did get into a match it was 1v4 or 4v2 or something like that so I was always getting romped on. Then a couple months later I could finally get into a fair match but it was always laggy so I ended losing yet again. But lately it has been working pretty well and this game is great but sometimes the lag comes back. mostly just in halo 2 classic though. Same for anyone else? I havent tried co op yet by what I hear it disastrous, is that fixed yet?
  • Checkpoint sharing patched finally. If you finish the last level of one of the game from a shared checkpoint it no longer counts, and you have to do them all. Unlucky for those that were putting it off!
  • awesome news! keep up the good work! not really ran into any problems with this game other than my achievements for completing halo:ce never popped until 4 weeks after release. if anyone wants to play ever hit me up. im on halo everyday.
  • this patch was in testing for awhile hopefully next one fixes the achievement
  • seems to have worked for me somewhat I found a game tonight :o
  • wonders why this has been posted in halo cea's news @4 they havn't mentioned anything about it, where did you get this from?
  • I played through all 4 campaigns one after another an didn't find any problems but the mp was rubbish took ages to find a game then teams where uneven hopefully this will fix that cause that is my only problem with this game the question is whether it is to late and has the halo population gone
  • Can anyone confirm that this patch has mainly fixed the MP? I'm at work right now but have been dying to play some MP with the guys...
  • @8 Tested this morning with a Halo 4 checkpoint I had saved. Now it gives you credit for finishing the last level, but the previous levels are all unticked and also have to be completed.
  • Might actually play this now
  • @11 Well I hope that's not the case as I only have Halo 2 LASO left to do and that would obviously be the WORST to have to do legit. Just my luck, as we did try this last month but couldn't get the vehicle in the last room so gave up. Now it seems that we may be too late. If anyone can confirm trying to do LASO by finishing only the last level of Halo/Halo 2 that would be great. I'll still do the last level to get credit for it. Then start the slog through the rest I guess. Yay....
  • I never really worried about the matchmaking that much, but being unable to play campaign due to unbearable lag. . . That really frustrated me. Unfortunately They don't really seem to address the campaign lag anywhere, In any patch.
  • And yet they still don't fix Stick With It. Fucking 343.
  • @8 why would they mention anything about it? its an exploit, it shouldn't be there in the first place. They also did mention it so to speak with " playlist improvements"
  • I just hope I can play some lag free co-op. We were getting serious lag where one of us just couldn't do anything the timing was so bad. When it did work it was a blast.
  • @17 sounds like your ISP to me. I have never had an issue with lag.
  • @13 I've confirmed it above. I still had CE and 2 to do as I have been sharing the checkpoints, and after seeing the patch go up thought I'd better test it out. Confirmed no longer works. On the LASO list you get the tick top say you have done the last level, but the previous levels are left unticked as they have not been completed, and no achieve. You'll have to do all the levels I'm afraid.
  • @17 same here. All of my friends and me stopped trying to do any of the campaigns in co-op due to the lag.
  • Why is this under Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary & not The Master Chief Collection? That makes no sense, someone goofed up, there.
  • Ahh, nevermind, Stick With It now works :) Just got my last achievement - 500/500!
  • @19 Well so far you are the only person to say so and have only tried Halo 4 (which some people had problems with getting LASO to pop even before this patch). So until someone takes the plunge and goes through a level on CE or 2 then it remains to be seen whether this patch has sorted all four games out or just some of them. Not got the update myself yet, so may try and do Halo 2 offline and see what happens. Will report back either way.
  • "Work is already underway on the next Halo: The Master Chief Collection patch." - this is pathetic, how many more patches are we gonna get before the game has no noticeable issues? Sad thing is that whoever's decision it was to rush MCC out, probably still works in gaming industry...i hope to see some people fired, cause that's what you get for failing at your job.
  • So if I have halo 1,3,4 done with the last checkpoint for laso. Obviously I need to do all of 2 now, will I still get the achievement for completing all of them or do I need to Go back And complete the campaigns up to. The last checkpoint?
  • @25 No idea. I suspect it will count based on the achievements, but if not then that would be an almighty grind indeed. I'm in the same boat, only need Halo 2, so if I grind through that on LASO and don't get the achievement for doing all of them then I think I'll give the rest a miss. I prefer my games to be fun rather than arduous, ha ha! Good luck.
  • Slight update. Someone else just did the last Halo 2 LASO checkpoint offline. Achievement unlocked when he went back online. SO he didn't have to do the entire campaign after all. So if you already have the checkpoints saved, there may be a way for you to use them if you do it BEFORE getting the update (as I have no idea how you would delete an individual update on the Xbox One).
  • So far the patch has worked great for me. Alot of games were found almost instantly. Not sure how the party system is though. The good news is, most of the time when we couldn't find a match I usually restarted the game and it would resume as normal. But now I don't even have to do that anymore which is incredibly nice.
  • Anybody know if halo 3 medals stats count towards achievements yet?
  • To be such an extensive, significant patch the details are a little vague...
  • @26 That is what i was really hoping for! @27 Doing that offline solo would be absolutely crazy, looks like i need to find a local partner, that would consider even trying this(will probably cost a lot of $$$ lol) @30 My thoughts exactly. I have been looking for more details and no luck so far.
  • I just bought this on the ultimate sale digitally and I must say even with the issues I am fully enjoying this. It sucks that there is only one ranked playlist at the moment since the main reason I'm playing this is for the best Halo of all, 2 ofcourse while I certai plan on enjoying the rest of the campaigns, I think Halo 2's ranking system was the best and it would absolutely rock and give the other games more replay value if they all had that ranking system. I wasn't aware it also had campaign issues so I hope they sort that out soon. Keep it up 343
  • Anyone else notice this article was placed in the wrong game?
  • I can confirm that "Stick With It" is now unlocking. I got it this morning.
  • Got the "Stick With It" achievement by trying to find a game in matchmaking. Found the match, failed to load the map, booted back to lobby. Then went to do some campaign co-op over Live. Still having absurd connectivity issues and when it finally does load a map, I swear the lag is actually worse. So... It's nice that the background in matchmaking is now animated but could we focus less on the cosmetic stuff and maybe focus on getting the fucking game to work?
  • I can not believe that this still has problems. What a joke!!! I haven't played this for months. 343i I got a tip for you, game testing before release. You better learn from your mistakes for halo 5.
  • Can confirm that you can still finish the final mission to complete the playlist before updating(if you have the checkpoint obviously, I don't think it is possible to get it without updating the game). I spent probably 8 hours(most frustrating experience I've ever had with such a small amount of content) today soloing the final mission of CE and Halo 2 LASO and have the MASTER LASO achievement now.
  • I have Halo: The Master Chief Collection and for some reason on Waypoint, it's saying that I don't own it. I can't even watch the TV series that it provides because of it. Why? Why must I be denied Halo awesomeness...?
  • @38 Waypoint as in on the Xbox 360? yeah you need to be on the halo channel not Waypoint
  • South Africa is still blocked. How can MS sell this product without warning lables. Not one game since Nov in the entire country.
  • Just an FYI but it seems the rumour of the LASO checkpoints being fixed has been debunked. I know a number of people that did it online, with the patch, yesterday and got the achievements. That worked for them on Halo CE, Halo 2 (both where you do the last level) and have seen confirmation for Halo 4 as well. Not heard of anyone doing Halo 3 or the MCC Playlist but I'll assume they were the same. If you want to be safe then you can do them offline (assuming you already have the checkpoints saved) as I did with Halo 2. Achievements will pop when you go back online - I didn't even have to update the game. Wish I'd have known this beforehand as it was a pain to do solo (with a 2nd pad for checkpoints) and I had to do it twice as it crashed on the final cutscene first time. But at least it motivated me to get it done, so that's nice. Good luck to everyone else.
  • mcc playlist defo works my friend did it after the update
