It's not a huge surprise, but it's still kinda sad. Guilermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills has been cancelled by publisher Konami. It's official.
Konami's message on the subject was short, to the point, and weirdly careful not to mention Kojima - who is soon to leave the publisher under mysterious circumstances.
"Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles," reads the statement, "however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued."
The statement continued: "In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements."
So our guess this morning was on the nose. More Silent Hill games are coming, but Silent Hills - so well teased in the PSN "demo" P.T - is no more. Bleh.
Again, Silent Hills was never confirmed for Xbox platforms. Regardless, we'd have been surprised if it had ended up being an PlayStation exclusive.
