Having departed BioWare last year, Casey Hudson has joined Microsoft Studios to work on "HoloLens, Xbox, and other awesome projects," as Creative Director. As such, he'll report to Kudo Tsunoda working on Microsoft's augmented reality tech.

"As Creative Director at Microsoft Studios, my primary focus will be the creative direction of HoloLens Experiences," said Hudson of his new role. "I was fortunate to try an early prototype of HoloLens before it was announced, and I was blown away by the technology and what it was already capable of."

He went on to describe the kind of AR experiences that HoloLens will offer when it becomes available to consumers. "Walking on Mars while sipping coffee in an office setting, Skyping with a friend who can draw on the walls of my environment, sculpting an object in 3D modeling software while a hologram of it sits on a table next to me... These first experiences cemented my belief that holographic computing was where I needed to be," Hudson added.

"There’s no end to the potential of this technology, and I look forward to being able to influence the full-spectrum experience on HoloLens, from hardware to OS, to applications and games."

  • I wouldn't trust this guy as far as I could throw this guy. He's a lying sack of shit.
  • @1 Know him personally do you?
  • @1 the ending wasn't that bad. People didn't want to see it end yet
  • .... for Hololens. fuck my life.
  • @3 The ending was that bad. And the beginning. And a lot of points in between. @2 He lied outright, publicly. We don't have to have tea together to know he's a liar.
  • The original ending was fine, if you actually read science fiction, you know, the stuff that inspired ME. Whiny children can't stand endings that aren't spoon fed to them.
  • @3 I still don't get people making such a fuss over the ending, both 1 and 2 had limited results too. In 1 you either save the council or don't (and either kill Saren or he's killed for you.) Whatever you pick there's practically no difference between a bit of fluff. In 2 you could influence who lived and died of your team more plus a bunch of random crew members but the ending was just a choice between destroy the base or let it remain for study.... practically no impact there either. While the "pick an ending" choice for 3 was a bit too simple and anti-climactic at least all 3 options were reasonably different in their fluff filler results though just like the past two games the overall result is basically the same [the relays being screwed and the reapers dealt with.] I love the series overall, but the players agency is far less than people seem to think it is and that should have always been obvious because that's the only way they could tell a cohesive story and have a common starting point for a sequel.
  • "Hudson: "Yeah, and I'd say much more so, because we have the ability to build the endings out in a way that we don't have to worry about eventually tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. At this point we're taking into account so many decisions that you've made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them."" LOL.
  • So the HoloLens will definitely come with three colour options then and a tutorial from a spacey-ghost child you'll want to smack upside the head with a metal chair.
  • Damn, some gamers sure are whiny and hold grudges WAY past their expiration date. I get it, your life was utterly ruined and Mass Effect as an entire experience was flushed down the toilet because you 'where lied to' about some 15 minutes that didn't go your way. $60 dollars really isn't worth loosing THIS much sleep over. Just don't buy anything Mass Effect or Casey Hudson related again (or do, and be a big hypocrite)!
  • @3: What anyone personally thought of the ending doesn't change the FACT that Casey Hudson lied about the ending. If he didn't lie, this image wouldn't exist: http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17h54c3y3y279png/original.png
  • @8: Thank you. I'm glad someone else remembers that Hudson actually lied. Again, it has nothing to do with if anyone thought the ending was good or bad, or if the original or extended was better. None of that matters, it can be proven that he lied because it is a fact that he lied.
  • I can think of a number of things the Xbox One could do with right now. A HoloLense really isn't one of them.
  • @8, 1 & 12 While I agree with you all, he didn't exactly lie, if you look at it through Obi-Wans perspective of "A certain point of view" Sure there were 3 endings, A, B & C, only difference being a colour, for the most part. I think what he was getting at was that each characters ending & future were taking into consideration, there. Eg, Geth survived? Krogan fate? Quarians still alive? etc, etc... I didn't hate the endings, I just wished they were expanded on a whole lot more. I understood the endings & what they meant, represented after the Extended Cut. But I don't hold it all on Casey. He just bent the truth with that statement. & he had to, would you honestly expect BioWare to say the ending would suck, prior to release?
  • Personally I didn't mind the ending that much. I think it was kinda cool how Shepard and Tali worked with that one Reaper to try and stop the expansion of Dark Matter from destroying the universe in an attempt to try and end the galactic genocide.
  • Oh wow, I can't believe I'm in the presence of so many perfect people. What's it like having lived your lives without ever lying? I wish I knew. I've lied before, in fact everyone I know has lied. We just had to rely on forgiveness and the slow rebuild of trust. Now that I say it out loud it actually sounds a lot nicer then to hang around a bunch of judgmental cunts like you guys. I'm looking forward to what Casey brings to the table.
  • How long ago did Mass Effect 3 come out? Get the fuck over it already, people. They fucked it up. They fixed it. It could've ended with a giant fucking fantastic dance number and people would still have pissed and moaned that it wasn't what they PERSONALLY wanted. Boo fucking Hoo. Self entitled Shits.
  • @16 Did you coin it in from millions on the back of YOUR lies?
  • I have a feeling Hololens will be built purely on Speculation, and will come in 3 differant colors to choose from.
  • @18 Fuck off, show me proof that he lied solely to make money and I'll retract my statement. He and the team created a wonderful series but because it had a flawed ending everyone is ready to send him up the river. Like I said, people make mistakes, get off you fucking high horse or come to me the day you fuck up so I can happily shovel shit down your throat.
