Warner Bros. and Avalanche Studios have released a brand new trailer for Mad Max, the upcoming open-world drive-and-beat-’em-up. It’s called Savage Road and you can watch it below.

Speaking on the PS Blog, Senior Producer John Fuller reiterated that Mad Max is set within the universe created by the movies and follows the eponymous anti-hero as he attempts to survive in an unforgiving, post-apocalyptic world. Buddying up with a “Wasteland Blackfinger” called Chumbucket, Max must fight off dangerous enemies and insanity while attempting to craft the ultimate War Machine.

Give the trailer a look below. The game is out on 1st September in North America and 4th September in Europe. You can watch a (brilliant) gameplay video through this link. Also: go and see the movie on the biggest screen you can find. It’s ace.

  • That movie was incredible and the game looks pretty badass. I'm more hyped for this September release than MGS 5.
  • GAMEPLAY !!! not this render cutscenes
  • What a lovely day!
  • You're right, Lee, the movie is fantastic. Hardy makes a great Max. I was hoping for a cameo by Mel Gibson, with maybe a throwback referance to the old movies, but otherwise the movie was great. Maybe we can get referances to the movie in the game, like its a sequel to Fury Road or something.
  • Looks nearly as good as Mad Max: Fury Road. Might as well be called Mad Max 5!
  • I thought the movie was great. Got me hyped for the game. I hope it mixes well with the movie if it is tied in. We all know the potential of movie tie ins such as Wolverine.
  • I absolutely loved Hardy, but I appreciate the look of Mel being used here.
  • Just can't wrap my pea-brain around an rpg about a car...
  • What a lovely day
  • Based doghead
  • Was that a demolition derby race I saw? Not nearly enough good Demolition Derby games, but this one looks like fun (for what driving sections there are/were shown).
  • Looks a good game. However it isn't a tie-in if anyone is wondering.
  • I haven't been this excited for a wasteland in a long time.
