Well, I just lost all interest, sometimes I can't play online and sometimes I don't wan't to play online so forced connection is an instant deal breaker.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 12:53 PM
And then you go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid like "always online"Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 12:56 PM
I only play when I am connected anyway so I could not give a shit.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 12:59 PM
not an issue really.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:02 PM
Not an issie for msot of us, does make me wonder if this is even an Underground game anymore though..Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:09 PM
Pass.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:14 PM
@3 couldn't agree with you more. It's just one of those things I do now lol. I feel that if it's online only though I think the gold sub shouldn't be required. Just my opinion so that everyone always has it. Even though I think almost everyone has gold by now.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:16 PM
Do you honestly believe that everyone here will have online connection? Welp, you've gone and f*cked it all up, didn't ya?Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:18 PM
EA? Are you playing with me? I want to be able to play games 20 years down the line if I really enjoy it. As for how you run your online games and servers? Nope.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:19 PM
The last need for speed game That I enjoyed was hot pursuit, That needed to be connected all the time to EA's rather dubious servers so you could compare scores to other friends.. But more often than not you could never connect.. Slow Clap EA... Slow Clap, Just when you could have gained soo many people back as well.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:22 PM
I actually spotted this game yesterday morning in the Xbox Game store on Xbox One for Upcoming Titles, and it had the whole description of what the game consisted of and it also had 10 images you could view which I did and it looked spectacular, also it had the release date which is already known 11-3-15 But I told my friend to look at it and when he did it was no longer in the upcoming titles section of the store, so I looked again and noticed it was gone for me as well. It probably was just a mix up I guess.. Did anyone else spot it? Cause I know I wasn't hallucinating the whole thing.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:25 PM
No problem here. Always play connected. Can't wait to see more on this game REALLY hope it actually is like underground 2. My all time fav nfs.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:28 PM
No thanks. Ea servers are garbage, I remember having to do the co-op stuff on dantes inferno like a million times because at random 1 person would get disconnected from the server after 30 mins thru a mission and had to start all over again! And this game will only last a year or so and shut the server down rendering the game useless what's the point in that?Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:29 PM
Well ... I was interested. I'm not any more.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:33 PM
So when ea or xbox live servers fuckup which seems to be everyday since th xb1 came out you have 60 dollars worth of useless data on your hard drive. Also when know how fast ea likes to shutdown its serversFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:33 PM
Half-Assing their classics.. EA is good for that.Look at what they did to SSX.I play online all the time.In fact playing offline, is something I hate doing. The problem lies in being REQUIRED to be online.Having options benefits us all.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:39 PM
Just when I think they couldn't possibly be any dumber, they go and do something like this... And totally fuck it up.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 01:40 PM
Yeah, interest just went down the tube with this. It's not EA's notorious servers but also the fact that not everyone has reliable WiFi that always works perfectly. Plus, not everyone wants to be always connected, especially if you aren't revealing what makes it 'nice' to be soFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:12 PM
@16 when xbl servers fuck up?? Must be your connection cause I've never had server issues on xb1.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:15 PM
@9 yes because you wrote that whilst offline.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:16 PM
I wonder if they're going to be some horizon-esqe Drivatar system. Maybe that's why online only? Or perhaps like test drive did and make it an online freeroamFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:17 PM
Will those "benefits" include not being able to play the game at launch when the servers inevitably cannot handle the load? This has the makings of being another SimCity type failure, all because EA think it's cool to post your times to facebook. Also, when the servers are turned off, does that make the game unplayable?Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:18 PM
Three core gameplay concepts: Speed, Style, Build, Crew & Outlaw. You might wanna recount that one, Lee.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:26 PM
Like the extreme majority of gamers, my console is always online. Some people don't care about this, but still while because it's cool to while. I'm not interested in the game, not because of the connection thing, the game simply isn't for me.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:41 PM
With the issues EA servers have coupled with the fact that at some stage the servers will be closed down makes this far less appealing. After the backlash XB & PS got after talking about "always online" for the new consoles I'm amazed a games company would even consider this. By all means have online functions providing these "nice" features but don't force it on people.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 02:59 PM
This has disaster written all over it. Guaranteed launch day unreachable servers and guaranteed unplayable when the servers inevitably get shut down. I thought we were past this always online silliness.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 03:01 PM
@21 He could be posting from work, his phone, maybe a buddy's house, don't be a dick. Like a lot of gamers, I am "always" online. I use quotes because I have Comcast for internet and most people with Comcast know how great the service can be one week and then the next week you get intermittent drops. Add in the fact that you are playing on EA's notoriously bad servers and "always online" is a potential problem.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 03:18 PM
Did EA learn NOTHING from the fiasco that Simcity created?Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 03:22 PM
Not one game or console that had this feature kept it.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 04:05 PM
Lol to those claiming this isn't a problem because they are "always" online. Good luck playing the game after the servers get shutdown 18 months after release. This is EA we are talking about. Your game becomes useless. Welcome to 2015. OT: This had promise, and now I'll pass.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 04:06 PM
I guess they didn't learn a single thing with the Sim City debacle...Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 04:12 PM
Meh, was vaguely interested, now I'll just wait until it hits EA Access.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 05:15 PM
I'll torrent this on PC, i'm pretty sure crackers will make it playable offline. That would be my way of supporting EA.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 05:21 PM
@32 and this isn't a sports title either. I can still play Battlefield 3 online and that was released in 2011, I can still play Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted on-line. But, you want me to only think about the sports titles because that's the only way to make your point valid right?Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 05:38 PM
If they follow The Crew, Drive Club, Need for Speed The Run, Rivals and Project Cars were screwed! :( Just make a new version of underground with the option of having online as a separate mode THEN WIN!..seriously just copy Forza Horizon EA.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 06:02 PM
EA, online connection. Hope they learned there lesson with SIMCITYFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 06:03 PM
@31 The Crew has always been & always will be online only..So your logic is flawed.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 06:03 PM
Also its EA, servers will have a lifespan from now to 5 years top.Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 07:11 PM
I hate games like this, 10 years from now I bet it wont even be playableFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 08:26 PM
Lots on the online debate, but really are we not always online now anyway? but my maths or is there more game modes - "and its three core gameplay concepts: Speed, Style, Build, Crew and Outlaw." is it 3 or 5?Friday, May 29, 2015 @ 11:28 PM
Catch the mistake idiots... it should read speed and style , build , and crew and outlaw. Let's see all the critics here right better day to dayFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 11:29 PM
Oh my bad .... hey DBD I KILL HAJI it's write not rightFriday, May 29, 2015 @ 11:30 PM
OMG I'M A CRITICSaturday, May 30, 2015 @ 02:23 AM
Buy on Nov 3rd play on Nov 27th Cause thats how long it will be till they fix the server problemsSaturday, May 30, 2015 @ 04:23 AM
I remember a time when always online would get me into heated discussions and debates of how wrong it is.... However fast forward years later always online isn't a bad thing, and I find myself gaming online majority of the time anyway. Sure if power goes out or some weird scenario occurs what happens? Well most cases I've experienced I just don't play yeah it sucks but it's not the end of the world. Also most always online games I've played I didn't experience any issues like Titanfall and Neverwinter. Looking forward to the next need for speed game hoping for the bestSaturday, May 30, 2015 @ 09:05 AM
Need for lag.Saturday, May 30, 2015 @ 10:57 AM
@41......in 10 years will it even matter? LOLSaturday, May 30, 2015 @ 11:35 AM
@41 EA don't want us playing old games of theirs in decades to come, they want us constantly buying their new games and binning their old ones - which is bullshit. If you're able to make games good enough to stand the test of time you ought to be immensely proud of this fact and the reputation that comes with this will drive further sales of new games - even though the old ones are still playable. Since I got my 1st N4S title I have got ~25 copies of 20 N4S titles on 10 formats over 20 years - and given a fucktonne of money to EA. Hell, N4S-III still has a special place in my heart. However it is FAR harder for me to justify spending big money on games which I KNOW I will not be able to play when my internet is down or ever again from a few years time when they decide to hit the server power switches. Online is expected nowadays, and great n'all - but online only is a dick move that will alienate many customers like myself. C'mon EA, you already turned me away from your FIFA titles, don't do this to N4S too.Saturday, May 30, 2015 @ 11:44 AM
Cue all the fanboys crying about their internet connection. The game will probably have a 10GB patch day one anyone so you'll need Internet for that so I don't see the issue in 2015.Saturday, May 30, 2015 @ 02:50 PM
And when they shut down the servers? Do we then jave a useless disc that we once paid 60 bucks for?Sunday, May 31, 2015 @ 09:59 PM
At least give US the choice! We are the ones buying the game. The only choice you give us now is whether we buy it or not.. Think your sales would have been higher if you could still play offline personally but eh it's your profits! What do us gamers know!

The upcoming Need for Speed game will require an internet connection to play on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, when it launches later this year.
That’s according to the official Need for Speed Twitter account, which said that the benefits of the requirement are “nice”. Responding to a fan on Twitter, who asked EA not to “make the same mistake” as Microsoft when they revealed plans for Xbox One “always online” functionality, the Need for Speed twitter account said: “NFS will require an online connection, but the benefits are nice. More variety and a more rewarding experience with friends.”
Need for Speed is a franchise reboot. There’s no colons, no subtitles or anything. Just a new start. Not much is known about the game, other than its release date - November 3rd - and its three core gameplay concepts: Speed, Style, Build, Crew and Outlaw.
Expect more at E3.
