Take-Two has registered several domains relating to Mafia 3, as revealed by WHOIS domain searches. Mafia3TheGame.comMafiaIIITheGame.comMafiaThree.comMafiaThreeTheGame.com have all been registered and all run on Take-Two servers.

What does it all mean? Well it points to the imminent announcement of a third Mafia game. The project has been subject to numerous leaks, rumours and reports over the last couple of years. It finally looks like the chatter is over and the real info is about to emerge.

Mafia 3 first started making headlines in August 2012, when it was reported that 2K Czech was developing the sequel as a new-gen launch title. Then a couple of years later, in January 2014, it was revealed that 2K Czech was effectively being closed down with a number of the affected staff moving to other studios.

A couple of months later, Take-Two job listings revealed that the company was hiring for voice actors. The listings even mentioned a Louisiana setting and contained character descriptions. Last we heard, Vito Scaletta voice actor Rick Pasqualone tweeted that we "might have some exciting news very soon" regarding a third game.

We look forward to the official announcement.

  • Finally.
  • Can't Wait!!!! I loved this game and LA NOIRE!
  • I sure hope so, Xbox One needs a game like this. I loved the other two.
  • loved both Mafia Games though I enjoyed Mafia 1 more. So bring it on
  • It's about time! I felt disappointed to not see any Mafia 3 at e3...
  • Its a shame it has to be named Mafia III. With it being the first of the series for Xbox One and unlikely to have that much connection to the series which can't be explained in a couple of scenes. It would be nice to have a fresh start for the franchise and for new and old gamers to the series. Most won't have had the chance to experience the first game, and the sequel was so badly sliced up for DLC that it wrecked the feel of the game. Its only my opinion as many enjoyed the sequel. But a fresh title without the number 'III' would be a good move I feel.
  • Yes, please.
  • What a great way to start off my morning! This is good news!
  • why would they do this so soon after e3?
  • Finally! I loved the last game. Can't wait to see this. Already 2016 looks jam packed for games.
  • @9 Looks like they skipped E3 so they wouldn't be lost amongst all the other big hitters. Really how much attention would Mafia 3 have got if announced on the same day as the Fallout 4 reveal? I'm pleased its coming out though, loved the first two, BUT just hope they give us more to do in the world this time outside of the missions.
  • @11 Iguess that makes sense, maybe they're getting ready for gamescom?
  • Loved the first 2 games, I got all of the achievements in Mafia II. Can't wait for 3!
  • Nice. Only 2 achievements till I 100% Mafia 2.
