We bloody love Star Wars here at XBA & PST towers, so obviously getting the chance to see and actually play Star Wars: Battlefront was something not to be missed. There's a very good reason it won our E3 Game of the Show award, so clearly, this is a game that warrants closer examination.

To that end, we collared DICE Producer Craig McLeod to talk about all things Star Wars: Battlefront, from the nature of those AT-AT battles that won't just take place on Hoth, but also on Tatooine and Endor (Ewok squishing, ahoy!), to what the absence of space battles means for the game.

We also discover how every player can be a Hero character, meaning anyone can wield a lightsaber as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, or blast away as Boba Fett, and we find out why Star Wars: Battlefront is a labour of love for DICE. Check it all out in our E3 video interview below, and keep your Jedi senses primed for our incoming preview.

Star Wars: Battlefront is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC from 17th November 2015. May the Force be with you, and so on.

  • Please let this be a thing. That would sell everyone on this game. It'll still be broken from day one though!
  • Waiting for collectors edition to be announced!!
  • I actually like the ewoks
  • Can not wait for this!!!
  • Saturday?
  • Give us a mode set on Naboo where the Empire and Rebels team up to wipe out the Gungans.
  • Please let Gungans be next. *McGrin*
  • I wonder if they'll bring back space battles in a paid DLC
  • i'll probably wait in viceral's star wars game. battlefield with a star wars skin just doesnt sound appealing.
  • instantly turned off by this game when he said anyone even people 0-20 can get hero characters because its a random pick up. sick of games catering to casuals giving them free kills just to keep them interested. why should they get that ability just by chance when they have done nothing to earn it. its just like destiny and titanfall where your super and titan charge over time why should idiots who have done nothing suddenly become the all powerful.
  • A Naboo battle between Gungans and Battle Droids probably wouldn't work; both teams would be trying to kill Jar Jar.
  • @12 they do this so that "casuals" will actually continue playing the game, giving you fodder for your positive K:D ratio. Earning the hero character with kill streaks would be fine for MP diehards, but the casuals will be done with the game in 30 minutes. For a game that is essentially MP only, that would be a huge issue. For those of us who don't spend hundreds of hours grinding levelling in multi-player, this is a welcome concession. You say you hate games that cater to "casuals", but it sounds like you just hate games that don't cater to you. EA is working to please the majority. They'll never please everybody. Sincerely, The Casual.
  • +1. Overall dumb comment by #12. I'm far from a casual gamer lol, but I am amazed at the amount of time certain ppl put into a FPS just so they can "own" everyone else. I for one spread all that time over several games.... So there are many ppl who are not casual gamers who don't think this is a bad idea. And my Gamerscore is over triple his.. Lol. On topic, does anyone know if there is a way for your score to be updated?? Mine is about 20,000 short on here....smh
  • Correction: I hit 163k the other day... It's crazy that it doesn't update faster on here.
  • @14 casuals need to fuck off playing games for 30 minutes a night just because they have nothing better to do till there mate rings them to come get pissed down the pub. games use to be hard back in the 80's and 90's you were either good at games or you weren't if you weren't you either tried to get better or you found something else to do. but today with every game just gifting idiots like you powerful killstreaks or in battlefronts case hero characters for doing nothing just so they feel like there awesome and actually doing something good when in reality its the game doing it for you because a 3 year old could do just as well with these overpowered gimmicks games give the likes of you nowadays. when devs do this they arent helping anyone because all it does is make the causal feel all powerful when really there shit and will always be shit because there being giving stuff to give them in effect free kills but if devs didnt do this casuals would either quit which would be because they arent prepared to learn and get better or they would stick it out and improve just like I did when I first started playing games because there weren't any over the top perks etc in games when I started playing. people like you are whats wrong with gaming you just want everything given to you on a plate and not work for anything because you cant be arsed to put anytime in to getting better at a game as you only play for 30 mins a night before going to pub to piss away your money with your mates.
  • @15 dont big yourself up to much bellend you dont have more gamerscore than me if you hit 163k the other day I have 179k just like you said it doesnt update on here. my gamertag is xNSHD see foryourself if you dont believe me. oh and by the way it isn't a competition on who has the higher gamerscore.
  • Lmao@ 16. I have no need to waste any more of my time on you. Especially since you missed the entire point on my post. Plz continue to blurt out whatever garbage you want. Preach on, Internet Cowboy! Lmfao
