As part one of our two part look into Mirror's Edge's Pure Time Trial pack, we bring you a HD look at the 7 different worlds (there are 9 races remember) that you'll get for your 800 points.

Believe it or not, the 7 different worlds represent an inside look into Faith, the main character's dreams and her psyche; and despite looking the same from the offset, each map has its own unique style and feel that we're about to break down for you.

Check back tomorrow for our Pure Time Trial pack review to find out whether it's worth your hard earned cash.

Actino

Actino (as shown below) is one of the trickier levels in the DLC pack if you don't know where you're going, especially the block tower section in the middle of it. It's a fairly straightforward run but requires a little extra thinking and rewards the braver runners out there if you so wish to take the dangerous shortcuts along the way. An easy one to get your head around, a tricky one to master. A great setup for the Actino Rise which is the second of two maps in this world.

Chroma

Chroma is definitely the easiest of the 7 maps and is very reminiscent of a Krypton Factor assault course and utilises the same skills you'll have used in the game's prologue. Not many testing moments here with the only one being whether you have the skills to ascend round the curved chamber before you hit the home straight ... we did not attempt that for this video. Ok, we lacked the necessary skills and practice to pull it off, but there are those that will breeze through that section.

Flow

Flow ... or as we like to call it, The Purple Adonis. The course that has more slopes than the Lickey Hills. A tricky course in its own right with timing as essential here as its ever been in Mirror's Edge, especially in the early stages of the time trial. The course starts off tricky and ends up being a damn sight easier after all the slope surfing.

Kinetic

Kinetic is one of the trickiest of the 7 maps with the course really being a series of yellow and white floating cubes. Your first few runs on this course are bound to result in plenty of "where the hell now?" and "help, I'm falling" moments. The fact that the level is basically a load of cubes means that you have less room for error in both takeoff and landing, meaning that timing is essential here. If you can nail this one perfectly, it's hugely satisfying. Either way, it's a great view.

Razzmatazz

Ahh, Razzmatazz ... named after our very own razzleson because of the fact that its yellow and unhinged. But seriously, this one will take a few attempts before you're even comfortable running it from beginning to end. The course is essential made up of thin yellow and white hinged platforms meaning that the need for your combos is essential here. The level ends in a shocktastic tower that means if you tread on the currents that pulse through the platforms, you're going to get bundled to the ground. Plenty of shortcuts on this one for the adventurous.

Reflex

The Reflex map, like the Actino map, is the other duel pronged course. Two races here on the same map (not at the same time though). Definitely one of the trickiest here, on the same level as Kinetic but not as forgiving. The platforms on Reflex are very isolated so if you miss them, you're falling and spawning back a few blocks ... just like me towards the end of this clip. Reflex Redux, unlike Actino Rise, takes place on a similar area of the map making use of different routes through a similar area.

Velocity

Velocity, like Chroma is a free running heaven but due to the amount of awkward jumps and uneven panels to kick off, it's trickier than Chroma by a long shot. The level does have a huge diversity of areas with poles, slopes, curved walls and plenty of vaulting and sliding needed, so it could be a favourite with the runners out there.

That about wraps up the feature, but remember to check back tomorrow for our official word on the Pure Time Trial pack.

  • I thought this was new Pure DLC from the title on the main page!
  • @2 Mirrors Edge is a very good game that is also very original. I really enjoyed it.
  • I played the demo and couldnt get into it. as much as i am into free running...i dont know. odd.
  • I am actually surprised by how good the maps were but maybe it is just me. Considering I am having trouble 3 starring Chroma ... I can safely say these are much harder than most of the stock Time Trials
  • I beat the story today, then did a single speed run and a single time trial. I really enjoy this game. Looking forward to sinking my claws into the DLC. I shelled out the 800 on it last Thursday. Thanks, the look at the maps is helpful for when I start playing them in the morning :].
  • These trials are great, im currently trying to push my times into the top 10 on the leaderboards.
  • change the title! it's misleading i thought it was pure not mirrors edge
  • Interesting. I'm almost tempted to buy the Time Trials now. I'm still a long way from 1000ing the original, though.
  • il give it a miss

  • this looks almost as gay as the game itself
  • @ 4 me too. Boooooooooooo lol
  • #4 same here
  • why would they change the title? the dlc is called the Pure Time Trial Pack lol
  • i dont get why theyve moved from streets to non sensical blocks floating in the air. itd be better if they did a story dlc where at some point a big bomb goes off and all the streets become grimey and dark
  • Lol, these look SHWEEEYT, even if a bit easy. I mean this guy was finishing over 30 seconds faster than the target times in some of them.
  • @pined - It took me about 10 tries to learn each route to do a run like that :P And I only managed to get 1 star ... there is a possibility to get 3, and I was a long way off those times. There are definitely quicker routes to be taken, I wanted to give a good sample of the levels :)
  • That's one sexy HD capture device you got their Dan. C'est Bien. :p
