CD Projekt RED has confirmed that 2011 RPG The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will be making its way to Xbox One as another Xbox 360 backward compatible title, although a date hasn't been nailed down for it as yet.

"It's coming but we don't have any dates to share yet. Please stay tuned for the official announcement," Community Manager Marcin Momot told an inquisitive fan on Twitter.

The Witcher 2 has received over 33,000 votes on the Xbox Feedback site where players can put in their vote for which Xbox 360 games they'd like to see come to Xbox One via the console's backwards compatibility function. It'll be more than welcome too, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt winning plaudits left, right and centre.

Now, if only we could get the first Witcher game in some form or other for Xbox One.

  • Might play this then since I got it with gwg but never touched it.
  • @1: You might miss out on an amazing game that gives a little more story to an even more amazing game Witcher 3. Both must be experienced. No question about that.
  • @2 ive 1500g witcher 3 played over 180 hours and did absolutely everything the game has to offer.
  • I'd like to take it but after playing witcher 3 I fear I might be disappointed to play something lower than the standard set by w3
  • @4 it is probably more focused than its sequel. I think it probably has a slightly better story than 3, too.
  • @1 me too, I got it gwg and was literally going to download it tonight and start playing. But I've been dabbling with the notion of getting a xbox one soon since I really don't have anything new to play on my 360. Oh decisions!
  • How great would it be if they remade the original for consoles? There is obviously a market here.
  • YES!! Bring on the region stacks!
  • How about Red Dead Redemption come on
  • Pissed off that I missed getting Witcher 2 for free, I was too lazy to plug in the 360 lol.
  • @10: You can buy the games on xbox.com for future reference. :)
  • The Witcher 2 was amazing, I just recently bought a digital copy so Id love to play it on the X1
  • anyone know when the next list of backwards compatible games will be released?
  • Cool story bro
  • All we need now is Dark souls 1 and Dragons Dogma!
  • @11 didn't know that!!
  • I have a question about BC lets say i go out and buy the disc version of any of the current titles on the BC list and i put them in my xbox 1 will my xbox 1 read the disc and download the update will it count.
  • @17: Yes, it will install the most current version of the game from the Xbox servers (not the base version off the disc). You still need the disc in the tray to play though.
  • @#18 Thank you
  • @11 I can download xbone gwg from xbox.com Though when I try to download 360 gwg from xbox.com I get a message that I don't have sufficient funds. My friends have this too. Are you sure you can download 360gwg via xbox.com too?
  • I thought MS said the BC list would be updated monthly anyway? I just want Civ & RDR! :(
  • @20, you need a card on your account to download 360 titles from the website. You're better off buying a 360 with a broken disc tray solely to download GwG, a much better option than giving MS your card details!
  • Awesome. This was my most wanted game for backwards compatibility. I've been holding off on playing Witcher 3 for this.
  • @20: It is how I "buy" all my GWG. Though I have a card attached to my account, so if what #22 says is true, that is why it works for me and possibly not you if you don't have a card on file.
  • Another question, I don't have a XBox One yet, but I still clicked on all the GwG for Xbox One on my 360. It always said something like: "Thank you for purchaising. You are good to download this game as soon as you log in to your Xbox One"... Does that mean when I finally buy a One and log in my account I will then have Tomb Raider Definite Edition, Valiant Hearts and all the other GwG for One waiting for me? Or doesn't it work like that?
  • @25 Thats exactly how it works, when you get a One go to my app and games, and in the games section scroll right and there will be a list of the games tied to your account but not installed yet.
  • @26 - awesome, thanks mate!
