Following its announcement last week, TT Games has revealed that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will expand upon the movie's narrative, with a variety of backstories plugging the gaps between episodes. These additional story details will be considered canon, and explain certain details, like the origins of C-3PO's newly-acquired red arm. This will also be told in an upcoming C-3PO Marvel comic book.

Other LEGO Star Wars: TFA levels will include sequences in which Han Solo and Chewbacca capture the Rathtar creatures they're smuggling in Episode VII, with TT Games promising a total of six backstory missions described as 'bridge content' peppered throughout the game's main storyline. Gold bricks will be required to unlock them, however.

"We've covered - or are in the process of covering - some pretty significant events that happen before the film that give people more information about why certain things in The Force Awakens happened and why certain characters have ended up where they are," said TT Fusion Lead Designer Mike Taylor. "It's pretty amazing."

Game Director Jamie Eden adds: "We tell the story through the sort of Lego viewpoint as well, so the crux of the story is what happens is true to the IP, obviously we put gags in with characters holding sausages or riding around on pigs, et cetera."

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be launching for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on 28th June 2016.

  • The C-3PO level is actually PlayStation exclusive.
  • Besides 3PO level & Han/Chewy capturing rathtars, I figure battle of Jakku, maybe a level with Luke finding a Jedi temple and/or seeking students. Maybe a Poe mission, possibly the scene cut from the movie after the escape with Finn.
  • @2: Perhaps some background on the Knights of Ren and/ or Snoke, and Kylo himself when he turned. It's unfortunate that this story content, which will be considered canon, had to be told through a LEGO video game of all things.
  • @1 Where does it say PS Exclusive? I can't find anything. @4 It's actually based on Marvel Comics released issues is what they said. Hardly anything exclusive. C3P0 was a Marvel Comic first along with the other non-movie stories being told.
  • @4 Yes there could definitely be some Kylo & the Knights stuff. Snoke I doubt though, I feel that reveal/backstory will be held for the movies.
  • So how will they tell the story in these extra level then? Just scrolling text at the start of each, or could it be that we'll get some of the visual humor back from the older LEGO games, because I don't see Harrison Ford going into TT Games to record extra lines for this game.
  • #1 is right. The C-3PO stage "The Phantom Limb" is PS exclusive, at least in the US. Check out the box art for the US version on Amazon: www.amazon.com/LEGO-Star-Wars-Awakens-PlayStation-Deluxe/dp/B01BCMBK1W/
  • Its lego....why does there have to be console exclusive content....
  • @Comment #5 by SengIV the box says its playstation exclusive http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Star-Wars-Force-Awakens/dp/B01BD3O6HA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454960765&sr=8-1&keywords=lego+the+force+awakens
  • @1 @5 @8 @10 The content is a TIMED EXCLUSIVE. From the Amazon US listing/box art, it says: *Droid Character Pack content exclusive through 9/26/16 *Phantom Limb Level Pack playable 8/9/16, exclusive through 11/7/16
  • @11 and just like with the timed exclusives in batman arkham knight Sony will likely pay to extend the period indefinitely
  • So, just replay the six levels from LEGO Star Wars: A New Hope and you've more or less got LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, right? @#9 - LEGO Marvel Avengers on the PS4 has timed exclusives for Ant-Man and Civil War, so this is becoming a thing, apparently...
  • #12 there was no time exclusives only exclusive scarecrow which never came to the one but sucks anyways
  • is one of the backstory stages going to explain how the lightsaber Luke lost on Bespin was recovered? that's the one thing in the whole movie that bugged the crap out of me....
  • looks great!!!!!!!
  • @14 wrong there are costumes and the scarecrow missions and they all were listed / advertised as timed exclusives but on the official forums they, months ago, said they would come to the one but since they have backtracked on that and it's (according to the forums) because Sony paid to extend the deal.
  • #17 I'm not too sure about the costumes but I know the scarecrow missions are never coming because they suck and I dought Sony would pay to extend it unless it was an actual story content. Anyways I'm glad there adding the book and comic material to the game can't be bothered reading it
  • C3P0's red arm will be explained in the up and coming "C3P0" comic series. much like the marvel vader, leia lando comics which were released for the up & coming force awakens movie! cannot wait to read how he got it. As for the game. I look forward to it too but ill read the comic first for the arm story so that it's not spoiled by a cute cut-scene. :)
  • @13 - not sure why you've been down-voted. I get the joke you made :) force awakens was an amazing movie with heavy nods to a new hope :) love them both. Looking forward to this game not played since batman 2 - the levels just got too big and I couldn't be bothered. this will bring me back to lego :)
  • Why does PS get all the exclusives....so annoying!
