Following its announcement last week, TT Games has revealed that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will expand upon the movie's narrative, with a variety of backstories plugging the gaps between episodes. These additional story details will be considered canon, and explain certain details, like the origins of C-3PO's newly-acquired red arm. This will also be told in an upcoming C-3PO Marvel comic book.
Other LEGO Star Wars: TFA levels will include sequences in which Han Solo and Chewbacca capture the Rathtar creatures they're smuggling in Episode VII, with TT Games promising a total of six backstory missions described as 'bridge content' peppered throughout the game's main storyline. Gold bricks will be required to unlock them, however.
"We've covered - or are in the process of covering - some pretty significant events that happen before the film that give people more information about why certain things in The Force Awakens happened and why certain characters have ended up where they are," said TT Fusion Lead Designer Mike Taylor. "It's pretty amazing."
Game Director Jamie Eden adds: "We tell the story through the sort of Lego viewpoint as well, so the crux of the story is what happens is true to the IP, obviously we put gags in with characters holding sausages or riding around on pigs, et cetera."
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be launching for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on 28th June 2016.
