The Flame in the Flood is coming to Xbox One on February 24th, developer The Molasses Flood has announced.
The Flame in the Flood sees players take the role of a girl called Scout, who must survive a river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America, accompanied only by her dog, Aesop.
A roguelike survival game that began life on Kickstarter, The Flame in the Flood is inspired by FTL, Don’t Starve, Toobin' and Oregon Trail. Players must make sure that Scout protects against hunger, thirst, the weather and predators as she makes her way downriver, in an attempt to escape in incoming flood.
There’s a salvaging and crafting system, Aesop can sniff out useful resources, and it’s permadeath. If you die, you stay dead. When you load up the game again, you’ll be presented with a different world. The Flame in the Flood has all of the right elements ans inspirations to be quite special indeed.
The devs have a strong pedigree too. The Molasses Flood is a new studio made up talent who have previously worked on titles including BioShock, Halo 2 and Rock Band. Exciting stuff. There’s a trailer below. Achievements here.
