SEGA Announce Vancouver 2010
Written Wednesday, March 11, 2009 By James Parkin

SEGA today announced an exclusive partnership with International Sports Multimedia to develop Vancouver 2010 - the Official Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games. The game is being developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software. Vancouver 2010 is an authentic simulation of a host of events from the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, focusing on the adrenalin rush that comes from the extreme speed of winter sports. Including the all new challenge mode, it will allow players to immerse themselves in the world’s greatest sporting event like never before.

“Vancouver 2010 will set a new standard for the Olympic-themed video games genre,” commented Hugh Binns, Director of Eurocom Development Ltd. “With the innovative first person mode to immerse players even more in the game, an all new challenge mode providing hours of entertainment and stunning high definition graphics, Vancouver 2010 will be a fantastic experience.”

In addition to the new challenge mode, Vancouver 2010 also offers revamped online gameplay and brand new control schemes new to an official video game of the Olympic Games. With this, Vancouver 2010 will be the new benchmark for the Olympic-themed videogames genre and truly allow gamers to experience the “Olympic Spirit”.

Vancouver 2010  is set for release in the winter of 2010. Further information relating to the content of the game will be available over the coming months from the official website of the game – www.olympicvideogames.com.

In addition to the press release we got our first trailer:

But wait a minute? You want even MORE? How about a handful of screens? Yeah, I think that should suffice. Click here to view the entire screenshot gallery.

Sweet. I've always been more of a fan of the Winter Olympics than the Summer Olympics. Look like it will be pretty sharp.

Here's to hoping it's good. There have been so many bad mash-up sports games (going all the way back to California Games on NES), we're overdue for a good one.

Can't wait to play Bi-athalon (Ski-shooting) or curling! Talk about an adrenelene rush!

@ #4

what are you on about?!

they are two completely different games.
sonic is a gimiky game that can handle most game platforms and types - theyve even had the shooter game - Shadow the Hedgehog!

but Master Chief if a character in an epic story line, and not a gimiky game that can bend to anything gay.

Sonic can run around being a puff all he wants, but the Halo games should stay with what its strong with - awesome storylines and brilliant shooters and (strategy games!)

you better not be a games designer for microsoft, or were all SCREWED!

Apparently you haven't heard of the (actual) Mario and Sonic at the Olympics Games? Look it up. 4 was just making a joke.

I just gave #8 a standing ovation on two counts-

-Not having a sense of humor.
-Claiming Halo has 'awesome storylines'.

On-topic though, as many guitars as you play, olympics doesn't seem any better. I have yet to find a better olympics game than Track and Field, so, I don't have high hopes.

Will read some reviews before getting this. I got Beijing and it was ridiculously hard plus the waggling of the thumb stick gave you blisters I hope they change it for this one.

If the control scheme is anything like the Beijing game, this game can suck it. ;)

I hope it's better than Bejing 2008. The controls should be done better. And it should be more arcadier...like Deathlete or Winter Heat!

Problem being the Mayan Apocalypse is set to happen roughly around 11:11am (gmt) on the 21st december 2012, and I'm not sure if the winter olympics will be finished by then

@29: Do you really believe that...? Come on..people had said "omg computers are going to rule the world in 2000". It's not going to happen =/ Not looking forward to this, its most likely going to be trash.
