There'll Be No Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on Xbox 360 or PS3, It Seems

It looks like Call of Duty will be skipping last-gen platforms for the first time in series history, with Infinite Warfare set to launch only for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Admittedly, this seemed somewhat obvious, given that an Xbox 360 and PS3 version hasn't been mentioned once in any of the materials released for the game thus far.

And with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 releasing for Xbox 360 and PS3 in a watered-down fashion, without the core co-op campaign, it seems like an obvious transition for the next Call of Duty to forego the previous generation of consoles altogether. That's what's happening, as confirmed in the tweet below:

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC on 4th November, with a campaign set in space, an entirely separate Zombies campaign with its own story, and the usual multiplayer gubbins. The Legacy Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition come bundled with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and there's a Legacy Pro Edition exclusive to GAME in the UK that bundles all of the above with the Season Pass and other bonus content.

Modern Warfare Remastered won't be sold separately, at least not at launch.

  • Too bad for the last-gen holders, but I think it's time to upgrade already, but it's kinda risky, because htey are saying they will aanonce new consoles. I will be pissed if htey do that as I already got my Xbox One a few days ago.
  • Yeah yeah we have heard that before. As soon as they get flooded with complaints asking why it's not on the 360 they will soon change their tune just look at Blops 3
  • Instead of asking silly questions about 360/PS3 support, we should be asking them about Backwards Compatibility instead.
  • Its time. Past time I would say.
  • @2 with the shit show that BLOPS 3 was on 360/PS3, I highly, HIGHLY, doubt. I can tell you, as a Gamestop employee, when I told people how much they cut out for the previous gen versions, they didnt even bother. Had a lot of returns/trades within days of purchase because of how bad they thought it was for 360/PS3. It's def not going to happen this time.
  • with the backlog I have built up for my 360 thats not gonna die anytime soon. but it is about time newer games were newer consoles only. its time to move on.
  • @5: Tell that to the 15 million people on the multiplayer leaderboards on the 360. Didn't matter how badly Beenox fucked Blops 3 they still made lots of cash out of it until they then realised they could release DLC on it which will sell!
  • They need to focus on current-gen consoles at this point, regardless of the fanbase for last-gen. I want a game that can play to its fullest potential, rather than one cut back to run on last-gen resources. Even if there's a "newer" XB1 on the way, that should be plenty of time for the laggards to buy it in time for this to release, especially if the rumours are true and it's been in production since February.
  • Black Ops 3 was the the full game in next-gen, it showed the potential. The 360/PS3 versions has been developed from Beenox which is a different studio from Treyarch, so stop using excuses for not displaying the potential of the game in Xbox One.
  • I'm glad they are stopping the last gen games. It's been coming for a year. MS said they would support it for 3 yrs and it's round to the cutoff. Just means us who have bought the xbone can have better games
  • They said the same last year
  • I'm not sure why you guys are so keen on less people getting games like it'll benefit you in some way. Last gen support being cut isn't going to magically make call of duty great.
  • @1 you should be safe for a while. I highly, highly doubt that the new upgrades will be worth trading your old console in for.
  • So? How about a Remaster sold by itself instead of this garbage?
  • I am highly sceptickle of this. With Black Ops 3 first it was not coming to last gen and then it did albeit with a scaled back campaign coop. Then it was there will be no campaign in last gen. Then it was no DLC and now the first DLC is dropping for 360 in 2 days. Till Activision start telling the truth a little bit more I am not just gonna believe whatever BS ststatement they release. Not to mention all the crap they pulled with Destiny: stripping out parts of the main game to sell as DLC, and ripping off employees and customers alike
  • In related news, Infinite Warfare is also skipping Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2. I mean, the last one pretty much did. Not sure why this would be there. The Xbox 360, for all intents and purposes, is dead.
  • @12: I'm not keen on less people getting it, but I am concerned about getting a sub-par product because they had to dial it back to work for last-gen platforms. Case-in-point: Destiny. They've nearly stretched what they can do with this game because they have to make it work on last-gen first, then port it to current gen, so we're not getting a product that harnesses its full potential with current-gen systems.
  • I'm not bothered what consoles It is or isn't getting released on cos I wont be buying it!
  • @12 because developing a new AAA for this Gen and last Gen results in a poorer product that is limited by what last Gen can do. They need to let 10+ year old tech go and concentrate on current Gen. We're already >3 years into it.
  • After the monstrosity that was BO3, I'm sure they would ditch it. 8-)
  • #19 right except the last gen version is always downgraded from the current gen versions so they can even run. Have you ever stopped to consider the tech isn't what makes a game good?
  • @12 nothing will make call of duty great again. Acti. Has ruined the brand and they will continue until everyone stands up and stops buying it. But yes we will get better games because companies can now develop using only the newer tech meaning good for us and bad for you. Just come off the money already and upgrade or be left in the dust over your own money hoarding either way is fine by me... but hell I'd prefer you buy it so I can kick your assistance in some overwatch this month.
  • Ass damn autocorrect
  • @8 that's actually the problem right now and you nailed it on the head, there not listening to there fans. This is proven by what there do in with cod 4. I also gotta ask to the dude that says he works at hardtop. This is only a graduation cause I'm pretty sure I kno the answer, but if I bought the new cod opened it right in the store took out the code for cod 4 how much do you think trade in for this garbage game is gonna be. I'm pretty sure even on launch day the games gonna only trade in for like 40. So you get forced to buy a horrible game to get a good one and the new game still makes cash off you.
  • Who cares, no one is getting this game for this game... Just cod 4.
  • Good. We shouldn't be still catering to last gen anymore.
  • @25 then don't buy it period. Just wait and they will release cod4 alone. They won't have a choice. But you'll buy it day one like most others and the will get 10 million day one sales and play this shit next year with WaW.
  • COD sucks balls no matter what console generation its on!
