EA today announced that when the Godfather 2 launches on April 7th (North America) and April 10th (Europe), players will have the chance to download a new multiplayer mode free of charge, known as "Don Control."
No, Don Control is not a mind control technique the game teaches you where you have the ability to make Donald Sutherland be more like his son Kiefer. Instead, it's the online strategic version that makes full usage of the newly added Don View. A bit like mobster chess if you must.
"Don Control introduces an additional layer of gameplay on top of the four multiplayer modes and six maps already available in the game and invites players to compete to see who is the ultimate Don of Dons. Players can now challenge one another in 16-player battles for their in-game currency from the single-player game. As a Don online, players can recruit others to join their family by giving them a cut of the profits. But if a player loses as Don, the in-game currency they wagered will be removed in their single-player campaign and their empire can come crumbling down."
Have I confused you with the phrase "Don View"? Well let us elaborate ... "The Don’s View is a 3D representation of the player's criminal empire, putting the player in the Don’s mindset; it allows them to coordinate their strategy, plan hits on rival made men, attack enemy rackets, and much more."
Free DLC on release is nothing but good, right? Well, we've got a funny feeling that the mode wasn't set to be ready for the game's mass manufacturing which can't be far off, but free DLC is free DLC whether it's the not made the original cut off point or not ... unless you don't have broadband ... but why the hell would you want an online multiplayer mode then?
