Destiny Will Be Testing Out A New Matchmaking System For The Crucible

Bungie is testing out a new system for matchmaking in the Crucible today - and it'll hopefully cut down on your waiting time between matches.

Senior designer Derek Carroll explains:

“When the new settings are applied, players at the extreme ends of the skill curve (you probably know who you are) should see shorter Matchmaking times. Connection quality is still the primary search criteria. The changes we’re implementing will make playlists more responsive to the overall composition of the player population. As Matchmaking times shorten, you may encounter players across a wider range of skill.”

The new update was due to go live in the Control mode of the Crucible, but was pulled almost immediately because Bungie found it was causing more issues than it was fixing.

The test has been rescheduled, however, and is still due to drop sometime soon, and should generally make the Crucible a more enjoyable place to be.

  • Destiny Testing something??? It is usually more of a "don't worry, this will fix everything" then there is a "oh crap, we broke something" then the unavoidable "we are looking into the issues players have been experiencing" and the finally back to "don't worry this will fix everything". But, yeah sure testing sounds interesting too....
  • Can we fix the canary issues during the day first as only being able to play at night is a bit of a pain
  • We are about to get some articles that say iron banner is cancelled!
  • Destiny 1 is still a beta ? Ffs come on Bungee sort your shit
  • The "test" lasted 4 minutes before the changes were undone o_0
  • Must tell you how bad the matchmaking is. They seemed to be "testing" new matchmaking stuff a lot.
  • pvp never should have existed. end of story, or lack thereof
  • @7 it has a much bigger story than any of the dark souls games(and yes, you will respond with weapon descriptions and loading screens, which only further proves my point), and that is lauded for it's story Typical bias
