So the site doesn’t have a Facebook page per se (we do have a fan page... BE A FAN NOW!!!!), so for the purposes of this feature, we had to have to use mine... possibly the biggest mistake I will make... EVER!! Please, no hate mail, abuse, or random friend requests. My inbox is full enough as it is!
So anyway, from a low (Twitter), to a high (Facebook). Everything about Facebook is ultra cool, slick and accessible... no longer do you have to gather your friends and family (who aren't on Facebook of course!) around a computer screen to show them your holiday pics. Simply fire up Facebook on your 360 dashboard and WHAM, they're there!
It essentially a streamlined version of the online site but on your 360 presented with Microsoft's trademark slick dashboard presentation. Of course, don't expect linkouts again (dammit MS, when are you going to install a web browser on the 360?), videos, chat and a few other little absences. Unfortunately like most things on the dashboard though, it’s sluggish as hell, but in this instance it may actually be quicker than the website... which is saying something.
There are a few missing things we'd like to see implemented including fan pages, notifications and groups, but thankfully we didn't see the constant quiz crap that clutters our Facebook news feeds on a daily basis. I don't care which cereal brands you recognise from a box!!
You now also have the ability to hook your gaming life up with your Facebook life and you can see what your Facebook friends do in the gaming world or vice versa. Or you can choose not to do that. It's entirely up to you.
There isn't much more to say about the feature as everything seems manageable and accessible. For more info and a brief look, check out our short walkthrough and screens below (more in the gallery). If there are any questions, I will answer them if I can, just whack them in the comments. Q and A number 2 starts... now!!
The Preview Program update e-mails for wave 1 are going out this week. If you haven’t signed up, check out the details here. The full update is coming soon. No specific date has been named yet, although November 17th is a good shout.
