Microsoft Announces Lips: Party Classics

Microsoft today announced their next Lips title, Lips: Party Classic, coming exclusively to that thing you call an Xbox 360 some time in spring 2010.

If karaoke is your middle name, Lips: Party Classics will bring you... you know, party classics. 40 of them to be precise. These "classics" include:

  • “Love Shack” by The B-52's
  • “Tubthumping” by Chumbawamba
  • “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor
  • “Rock and Roll All Nite” by KISS
  • “Wannabe” by Spice Girls
  • “I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tiffany
  • “Y.M.C.A.” by Village People

Hopefully they won't skimp on the achievements this time and add them to the original game again. If they do, be relieved to hear that there are Avatar Awardables planned for this latest installment. We're told they're "fashionable" as well!

Lips: Party Classics is scheduled for a spring 2010 release.

Why? Big problem is that every time a song goes to a crappy game (Lips, Rock Revolution, Any GH Band disc), it gets relegated to obscurity. It never comes out for Rock Band Download or Guitar Hero Download. It just sits there, wondering if that "exclusive agreement" was a bad idea.

I am willing to bet money that they will add the achievements on the Lips game, not this one, like last time. Shame the example songs are all I DON'T like, usually I love Lips songs :( Quite a disappointment, but I hope there are other songs in the game I will like instead.

No buy. They need to add a song export feature, and they need to do it... about 2 games ago.

Harmonix is the only one that has truly figured it out. If you're going to make multiple installments of a music party game with no real changes to gameplay, allow all the songs to be played without switching discs! Unless everyone in the room happens to be a music and a gaming nut who has memorized which songs are on which discs, swapping them in the middle of a night isn't a viable option.

I think the Tubthumping song is the only song not in another music game. I could be wrong though.

Are there even music games announced for 2010? I certainly haven't heard of any. Maybe they are laying off for a little while?

So will they just add another 250 points to the original game and make us pay full game price for another expansion or will we have a new 1000 to go after?

WTF is microsoft thinking? Nobody WANTS lips, nobody CARES about lips, its not a good party game, the name is retarded and for god sakes why make 3 karaoke games? But thats not the bad part... the bad part is that its an over-advertised microsoft exclusive just like "your in the movies" but theres 3 of them now!!! SingStar on PS3 is 10x better than this crap simply because its more realistic and less cheeseball. The fact is Microsoft, Xbox isnt a party or a family console, so stop trying to put the spotlight on them, they want a wii. Emphasize on US.

I like Lips but it feels half arsed. How many copies has the series sold? Normally we get told when a game sells 1 million and we have yet to hear that with Lips.

Why do people complain so much about Lips? This game rocks! And new avatar awards sounds good. Why should Lips not be allowed to have an addon, you know, other games bring addons too! I, for one, am glad for another Lips addon with avards :-)

I agree with the sentiment that they better not pull the same achievement thing. I went ahead and bought Lips GH or whatever it's called just because I can't stand not having achievements available to me if I want them.

@ #17 - Not even that's new; Tubthumping was on the European version of Donkey Konga for the Gamecube.

/hey, it counts...

They need to fix Lips #1 Hits before they release a new game. This ticks me off beyond belief, I can't even get ahold of anyone who works for Lips to make them aware of glitched achievements.
