On Saturday night at Spike TV's VGAs, a teaser trailer dropped for 2K and Yager's newly announced Spec Ops: The Line. Despite the short, but impressive looking trailer, little was known about the title, so today 2K decided to shine a little light on it.
This third person shooter sees you take control of US Army Captain, Martin Walker, who has been sent into hostile territory with his squad to locate missing US Army Colonel, John Conrad, who stayed behind in Dubai with his squad to help the locals escape after a series of devastating sandstorms.
Spec Ops: The Line is said to be a provocative modern military shooter that will challenge your morality by throwing you knee deep into some "unspeakable situations where unimaginable choices affecting life must be made." Sounds deep.
Expect to see squad play as you lead round three characters, dynamic sandstorms that change the face of combat and plenty of vertical interiors of Dubai's once wealthy high rise buildings.
The title is also said to deliver both single player and multiplayer modes, with a multiplayer experience that "offers a unique perspective on the single-player storyline." You can't get that much more cryptic than that.
"The Line" tagline comes from a military term that signifies a line that they cross where duty and death become one and the same. Sounds better than, Spec Ops: Suicide Mission at least.
2K have stated that Spec Ops: The Line will be available in their 2011 fiscal year which starts on November 1st 2010 and runs through till October 31st 2011. So don't expect it too soon.
