Codies Pull Further DLC Support For Op Flash: Dragon Rising

Codemasters' community manager Ian Webster (aka Helios) has announced via the Dragon Rising forums that there will be no further DLC for the latest Operation Flashpoint.

"I just wanted to inform you all that the team have now completed the “Dragon Rising” chapter of Operation Flashpoint and that’s it for DR-related content going forward," Webster declared yesterday evening.

He added, "We are sorry if Dragon Rising and the two DLCs released to date have left you wanting even more, but in the grand scheme of future plans and schedules the vast majority of the team are already busy planning the future of modern combat.

"We're aware that this news might disappoint some of you, but I kindly ask that you all please keep any future posts on this topic mature and constructive."

Don't let that stop you from venting your frustrations in our comments section though. Just keep it clean, people.

  • Is this game any good? I've yet to play it.
  • @1 I got it when it came out. Absolutley awful.
  • Quite gutted about this news... was hoping for a new DLC campaign. Game was underrated as most people were caught up in the hype surrounding MW2. People bashed this game for not being like MW2, but i like the more strategic approach needed in this game. One shot can kill from a great distance and playing in coop is def the way to go. Shame the whole map was not open in the campaign but the missions are well thought out and can be quite tough. Here's hoping for a sequel!!
  • The game is pretty good if you know how to play it. #2 probably just got done playing Halo 3 and wanted to run around the map shooting aliens. This is a very tactical game. If you had to compare it to anything, it's kind of like a very realistic Battlefield.
  • @2 Same here but i enjoyed it! The planning of how to go about the mission and where to go rather than just being given a target and run straight towards it though a hail of bullets and still surviving. @1 It depends on whether you prefer "run n gun" games or slower paced tactical games. It's sometimes frustrating when you get shot by an enemy that you can't see hidden in the undergrowth but then next time you plan a different approach.
  • Are they taking the fucking piss? There was supposed to be heavy DLC support for this game. A couple shitty map packs won't cut it. If you browse the in-game menus you can tell an entirely new campaign was planned, from the Chinese perspective so I heard. Guess I'll still get some money for it. Gonna need it for BFBC2.
  • Come on people, this game couldn't live up to the hype even if you dreamed about it. Lies lies lies all lies, "open world, approach the missions any way you want" Too many promises upfront and nothing in the end. Here's the evidence and I can't say I didn't knew it.
  • I don't get why this game got so much hate. I can see part of it, that part being idiot kids that don't like it because it's not your typical MW2 sort of FPS. Personally I really enjoyed it though and would have liked to see some more DLC, and obviously some DLC with extra achievements. Still, I need to do it on Hardcore anyway. Hopefully my friend feels up to finishing co-op with me then go to hardcore. (Shouldn't be a major difference tbh since in co-op you have to restart if both of you die anyway. Just map markers and stuff like that).
  • I'm not even going to respond on that childish nonsense above me. All I'm saying is CM promised a whole different deal in their advertising campaign.
  • I liked the single player aspect for the most part, i didn't really get into the multiplayer but i can understand others liking it and wanting more.
  • @8 Considering you've only got 60G on the game I think it's very rich of you to discredit other peoples opinions on the game when you've only got 3 achievements on it. "This young boy represents the majority of the people that bashed the game because it was too hard for them." Do you fall into this category also? Go troll somewhere else please.
  • I am sure they have realised it isn't making financial sense, they'll just be hoping for greater sales for their next game
  • @1 If you like GRAW you will like it but don't expect COD type of game because it's more real life than any COD game will ever be.
  • @12 My xbox died and I have not played any of my games since October. I am not trolling or bashing on the game at all. I was responding to the guy that came on here saying how this game wasn't what they said it was. However, it is indeed open world and you can plan your mission before you play. You don't need 1000G to understand that. It's really not a big deal, I know once the other kids wake up for school they will complain about how "bad" this game is too. I won't be here to witness it though. Good day.
  • The game is rubbish, frustrating and really cumbersome. If it wasn't for the £27 offer at ASDA I would of never of bought it. Worst tactical game I've played and got my hands on. How can #8 say it's open world, when if you go too far the game complains get back on mission, and on some missions the game auto fails you and got to start over. Considering the checkpoint system which never saved in co-op didn't make the experience any better with friends. It's a linear game with the illusion of an open sandbox.
  • #2 EY! I 1000'd it and loved every second. It's an acquired taste I guess. Multiplayer against a friend is one of the most epic things in a video game. :D
  • It's quite amusing how as soon as someone states they don't like this game, it's instantly assumed that they're holding tight onto MW2's dick. Is it not possible that this was just a bad game? Why do you think they stopped DLC on the game? Maybe because they know that no one's buying... Like most people are saying, which I agree with, this game was way overhyped and had nothing but empty promises. Besides, what was realistic about this game? You see the enemy, fire a few rounds, enemy goes prone, fire a few rounds, enemy dies, rinse and repeat. Then there was the infamous get shot from the left but it's your right side that got wounded. Or how about being crouched behind cover where your head is the only thing exposed and your leg gets wounded. And lastly (my favorite), you move u
  • you move under a smoke screen to flank them and they knew where you were all along, every single time. Yeah, this game was super realistic...
  • WTF? This game was amazing. I JUST piicked this up yesterday too. I held off buying it till I got my new T.V. Damn! This game was better than MW2 and Battlefield in so many ways. Damn you Codemasters. First you give up on Grid, now this. You guys suck!
  • I'll admit I found the game too hard and I'm not gonna bash it like some people would, I really enjoyed the game and the approach to it, and I understand how great it is for people who enjoy the sort of game, I didn't like this game for the same reason I personally IMO didn't like R6V.
  • I found it to be a solid game (despite being badly flawed/glitchy in places) and it brought back fond memories of the original. One of the strong points of the first game was the amount of mods/extra vehicles you could download. With the paucity in the game itself and now no more DLC, that is a big disadvantage of the second game. I also spent a hell of a lot of time in the map editor in the original (on the PC) but of course the map editor isn't available in the console version. I suspect most of the community moved on from the console version of this game some time ago, so it's probably not worth releasing more DLC. The community mods will do the work for the developers in the PC version.
  • What #22 said.
  • loved this game and i only settled for 900 as i just could not bare going thru the game on hardcore! so many let downs tho! but its a shame!
  • I did finish it got all 1000 points, but personally I'm not to crazy about it.. The game can be really hard if you dont know how to shoot, this is not a COD game where you point and shoot and everyone dies, If your 200 meters or more away from an enemy you have to start thinking bullet speed and elevation which can make the game very frusterating. For the realism this game is very good, maybe to good. The enemy will rip you to shreds, If your head is poped out the wrong way for to long dont be surpised if you just drop. And on hardcore mode there is no checkpoints I dont know how many times I died at the final part of the mission just to go back to the begining and do it all over again... Good game if you got the patience and the SMARTS
  • They're still putting DLC out for this game? Lol I got my 1000G for it then abandoned it. It was not what I expected it to be.
  • I really didn't mind this game at all. It did have its issues, sure, but I had a lot of fun playing through the campaign. I got every achievement but 'Hardcore' but since I only rented it for a week and took it back long ago, I doubt Ill ever go back and get it.
  • I was pretty hyped for this game but as it came closer to release I just stopped caring. I may buy it one day, it's probably getting pretty cheap lol.
  • its an enjoyable game, but i wouldnt buy the dlc anyway
  • It was a pretty glitchy game, though. I played every mission, got every individual "mission complete" achievements, but not the "complete all missions" achievement. Er...what?! Lol.
  • the game sucked !!!!
  • Glitchy but fun the same, people say this game sucked I rather play this than Modern Hackfest 2!
  • the game was nothing but a campaign of fail on a disc.
  • far to hard and retarded AI, co-op is a must but i just cant be arsed, a game should be fun this is just frustrating gash
  • Don't rly care. I played it on PC and the game looked amazing!! But the gameplay was a joke. Guys sniping me with submachine guns from 500 feet away when I couldn't hit a rats ass with assault rifle lol!! Then again it seems to be a standard these days (ekhem MW2...)
  • I kinda liked it it feels like a strategic military game where u had to plan where u were gona go how u were gonna go about doin a mission one downside this game was HaRD probably harder then any military based shooter I've ever played
  • One of the worst games ive ever played, DLC isnt gonna be missed as far as i care. AI are dumb and the so called "open map, play it as you want" was a complete lie. Most of the missions are on a time limit, you cant go far or else you'll fail your mission.... a bad game that didnt live up to the hype. Pity really as there was the potential for an excellent game...
  • It didnt like it because it was nothing like the original. I know i know different companies I might re-buy it again if i see it for £5
  • loved the game but found it difficult to get the hang of the controls, also im looking for a co op partner for ths game so pm me on here on xbox live my gamertag is JT Gregory (like my x360a account)
  • Waaaaaytoo glitchy. I'd like to not be murdered by a flight of stairs TYVM. Other than that it was a really realistic and good game... but man were the glitches bad...
  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Didn't they PROMISE DLC content every month from launch?
  • Yeah this sadly confirms the lack of care codemasters have for the game. The inference is that they're working on a sequel but the questionable quality of the game, AI often not reacting to being shot, magic body armour that doesn't transfer intertia of bullets (modern body armour might be able to stop a bullet or 2 but by fuck are you going to be sat on your arse when hit), the disgraceful excuse for difficulty levels (same game plus no hud is NOT a realistic game) and the fact the DLC was the work of a half an hour with the mission editor doesn't give me much hope for the future of tactical shooters. As far as console games go, OFPDR is still the best tactical shooter but its not a fit descendant for the name. Sadly neither is ARMA 2 so the original OFP is still the only really good i
  • This game was a massive failure. They promised so much and barely delivered. This is the last game I will every buy from Codemasters.
  • Bummer
  • i still like the game. the multiplayer is a little odd though.
  • Sad truth is, game is absolute tripe. Graphics that would look bad for the original xbox, unoriginal story, the most utterly retarded AI i have ever played with and against. Realistic my azz. Props to anyone with the patience to 100% such a terrible, terrible game, lolz at anyone who wants more.
  • Game wasn't so bad as people make out. Most people just couldn't play it due to the difficulty. Personally didn't like it, too realistic for me.
  • What's strategic about this game? I played trough it on hardest difficulty, not even once issued an order to my team... sure you can "roleplay" and use them, but when its not even needed, why bother?
  • This game is shitty. They hyphed soooooo much about the size of the map and being able to go anywhere and drive any vehicle. Yet, you could only go within the mission parimeter and you could only drive/pilot a few vehicles. This game failed hard. I won't EVEN get into the awful hit detection and bullet damage. Utter garbage.
  • Awesome game, if you know how to play it.
  • I'm truly disappointed to hear that. I thought this game was pretty cool. It was a little too realistic, and also the graphics of things up close were horrible - but from distance were beautiful. I'm glad I've managed 900G on this game. I need some help getting the final 100G achievement, but I'll seek through the forums for that. This game was hyped up by false advertising. They made it seem better than it was. What it needed was the Mission Editor for Consoles. That would've sold me long ago. The second DLC is simply the best one. But still, that's NOT enough. They told us prior to release that they would support the game with DLC for long-term. I feel simply cheated. This game was terrible, but I held onto it with the hopes of enjoying more DLC.
  • The problems with this game were diffrent for diffrent people For me the game was simply far to easy and way to streamlined and i didnt like it just as i didnt like MW2. But that said im primarily a PC gamer and for those of you who think the 360 version of DR is bad try it on the pc lol. To me i like the originaly operation flashpoint and the games the guys who made the original went on to make ARMA 1 and 2 open ended to them and freedom of approach means if you want stealth then do it stealthy if you want to bomb your target from the skies go and find n airbase with a harrier that is what is open ended in my mind. That said on the 360 it is alot harder and mroe realistic than your every day shooter but i feel it would have had mroe sucess without all the hyped up lies and a diff
  • It's one of my favorite games can't wait for operation flashpoint red river
