I'm glad everyone is happy for this and all, but this expansion is close to a full retail price (44.99 from EB/Gamestop here in Canada) and they're only throwing 250pts in?

Yeah yeah, I know, don't play games just for achievements and blah blah blah.

But they could've thrown me a larger bone here. I guess its that whole two years worth of DLC plan, so if I'm paying close to full price for this expansion, it damn well better be longer than all the DLC they've put out so far combined.

Man, I was happy when I seen that, but they had to friggin slip in a higher level cap.

I've done everything else already, now I've got to do another 40 hour playthrough just for that?

All these developers that do RPGs need to stop with this crap, pick a level cap at first, then just stick to it.
Don't make us end up having to play through the entire thing again, (after you've done it several times already), just for a dumb level cap raise.

you know its only 250 because they are only allowed to add 250 more per quarter...Ive heard that any other achievements that were not used in previous quarters can be added on...which would mean they would only be able to add a max of 375 more for awakening...obviously they didnt and only went with 250, possibly leaving room for further expansions

Why are people complaining this is going to be awesome it's like adding a completely new game. Plus they can only add another 250 points per quarter or whatever as stated above, so stop bitching nothing they could do about it.

Hey 22, it's not DLC. Its an expansion, it's a 40$ like Kanes Wrath and ODST (60$ in that case). Kanes wrath and ODST wasn't 250 was it?

Half of me wants to say that after ME2 DA:O seems so. . . .blah Idk might be the DA:O withdrawl but I really want to get hyped for this. . . I wish they'd patch the damn glitchy achievements (yes from the original Stone prisoner and Warden's Keep) I still need to be credited my "A Rock and a Hard Place" achievement!!!!

anywho, I should be filled up to the brim with ME2 goodness by the time this drops I'm hoping thats the case cause I can only have room for one major WRPG in my life.

@30 Has a point. The dawn of war 2 expansion added another 1000g to the original retail list (It doesn't break the microsoft agreement), raising it to 2000. They could have easily added more.

Expansions are allowed to have 250G. Microsoft stated that around the time when the Shivering Isles expansion for TES: Oblivion was released.

Halo ODST isn't an expansion. It's a full (budget) game so that's why that game got the full 1000G.

Kanes Wrath was a stand alone expansion. You didn't need the origional game to play it. Dragon Age: awakening could do that too but I think Bioware releases their expansion just like Bethesda released the oblivion expansion and fallout DLC on dics.

first off I want to say that I love bioware! ME 1 and 2 are both amazing!! DA:O is a top notch rpg. In my opinion it is just as good as fallout 3 and oblivion, but honestly this dlc/expansion/whatever you want to call it is a GIANT ripoff!! I do not care how good the story or gameplay will be on it, there is no way it is worth $40 for only 250 more gs!!! Look at the F.E.A.R. Files *STANDALONE EXPANSION PACK*, if im not mistaken that was $40 when it was released and it had a full 1000 gs. DLC's that are coming out with 250 gamerscore are running between 800 and 1200 ms points, but definitely no more than 1600(a.k.a. $20)!! With that said, the absolute most that the price for this expansion should be is $20! Anything more than that and this "Expansion" should be classified as a completely di

This is something I never quite get with DLC on 360. How come something like Gears 2 goes up to 1750 points with DLC (the same with Halo), and then other games only go up to 1250 (Oblivion), or 1550 (Fallout 3)?

Is there a reason some games go up to a higher gamer score eventually?

On topic, DLC is looking awesome. I'll wait though, as I've still gotta get through the main game. Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 are taking up my time at the mo.

lol
low playtime/money used to called a rip-off.
now low GS/money is called a rip-off
If that is too low GS/money buy a Disney game instead.
I think DLCs are offering way too much GS.
Left4Dead had 225GS for about 1-2hours playtime (+mini genocide)
Force unleashed 220GS for 2hours playtime and 125 for about 30min.
Halo3 750GS for a about 2hrs boosting session.
Most time developers are artificially creating weird stuff to fit all the achievements in a really short DLC.
At least Bioware isn't doing this stuff.
Imagine they packed 10 achievements for 250GS in Bring down the sky. That'd be weird.
I think 100GS would be a better cap than 250GS per DLC.
U get more GS out of a short DLC than maxing an arcade game.
250 is a good value to go for a real expansion.

Love the idea and the game expansion looks amazing. I loved DA and can't wait, but it should be more than just a small 250g of points. Its 40 dollars, there are 8 dollar expansion packs that will give you 250 (all the fallout ones) and this game should definitely be at least 750. I'm going to buy it nonetheless because I love this game, but seriously it should be more points its a rip off in that category.

So being an expansion, this will install to my hard drive like the shivering isles? Or will it play solo like the GTA dlcs did? Or is it a disc with a "cerberus" code? If it's the 3rd option it should just be dlc out of the gate.
Either way, I think 40 clams is a bit steep. This had better be one hell of an "expansion", even FEAR files was a stand-alone with a full 1000G.

YOU ARE POSTING ON AN ACHIEVEMENT SITE.

Most people on this site care about ACHIEVEMENTS. Go flame another site about how much "quality" people are getting for their $40. On THIS site we care about ACHIVEMENTS and quality.

That being said I will probably buy this even though it is overpriced. Just wish there were more ACHIEVEMENTS.

And I totally just screwed myself over. I ment ShiveringIsle. The GOTY edition of Oblivion was £30.

On another note I was going to get it (Though DA:A was the original game and DLC's) but I can't pay for this and DA:O but might lend Awakening off my mate if he gets it and just buy DA:O

Now It is somewhat astonishing that people would compare price to 'gamerscore' your paying £30 for x hours of gameplay. It has more gameplay then most full retail games have (ODST.. Hey they even gave you maps you probably already had) but because they offer 1000gs it is an instant attraction.
Now before I am flamed for my opinion (welcome to the internet) I do also slightly agree that the whole GS situation is somewhat poorly outlined by Microsoft, and that Awakening is an expansion not DLC. I also find it somewhat rewarding to see that you have achieved something in the game and maybe for an expansion 250 is not a whole big deal. Although I am glad they spread it out or appears to be spread.

Well I shall be buying this game because I enjoyed it, and have little concern for the lack

@63

Oh, I'm aware I'm posting on an achievement site, thanks.

I'm also aware that achievements are a fun PART of gaming, not the sole purpose.

And aparently, no, some here don't care about quality, just achievements. Some of the comments here, yours included, seem to prove that and I think my point stands.

#63, so that justifies blowing money on a game for your goddamn completion percentage? Hell, I hae a lot of achievements because I have a lot of games, simple as that. Obviously everyone on this site is an achievement enthusiast in some way, but not everyone buys games or content for achievements.

I dont see why it cant have a full thousand. All of the Guitar Hero games get a thousand. On that topic there should be more GS for music games. The DLC from Rock Band has had to have made someone a lot of money. Why not some more achievements for packs. The Beatles should really have some more achievements for album specific things.

I will get awakening. Not sure when I will. Started playing WOW again and FF 13 comes out next month too. We'll see.

Meh, glad to see Bioware supporting their game, it's just not a game I felt like supporting.

Yeah they should have put more achievements for that price. The dawn of war II expansion comes out this month (yeah i know its pc only) but its only $30 and adds 1000 more to the game for a whoppin 2000 gamerscore!
