Splinter Cell: Conviction Finally Goes Gold. Dev Diary Number 4 Gives Us More Intel

Ubisoft has let Sam Fisher loose for another Dev Diary. Number 4 in the series is a brief overview of the game, reminding us that there will be mission objectives projected onto scenery and you'll get to rough up several characters in interrogation sequences.

We can't wait to beat seven shades out of the dodgy types Sam encounters, smashing heads into urinals, mirrors and  throwing them through glass will be nothing short of awesome

Good to see Fisher taking no prisoners and getting full on brutal in his mission to track down his daughter's killer. Watch the latest Dev Diary for more.

The game has also entered the final stage of development and has gone gold. Conviction is out on April 16th.

  • awesome, cant wait for this game!!
  • This game is gonna be great, the demo was awesome.
  • Only worry is that it wont be a stealth game any more .. but another run of the mill fps.
  • Looking great, loving the demo very user friendly easy to use cover buttons, love it!
  • ZOMFG ITS COMING NEXT MONTH *head explodes*
  • First off #3... it's THIRD PERSON. I refuse to argue further for the sole purpose that you could not be more incorrect.
  • it can be whatever type of game you want it to be.
  • Come on,3weeks left......
  • #3, I agree that it has barely any stealth aspects but frankly, this game is awesome! Maybe I should say this, it's a bad Splinter Cell game but a great game on it's own. It just had the weight of the other SC games on it's shoulders, and failed in the stealth aspect.
  • ahhh cant wait! i've played the demo like 20 times now never gets old. :)
  • I dont understand why so many people complain that the stealth element has been removed. All they did is giving the player the option to play stealth or violent. You still can sneak around, take the hostiles out silently and be gone before they notice. It is YOUR choice.
  • can not wait!!!! and also love the dev diaries
  • Looking forward to this, the demo was brilliant.
  • Demo was decent, and I'm a huge fan of SC, so will 100% be getting this around release! Hope the multi-player doesn't have as many exploits as others of late.
  • already pre-ordered it!! can't wait 4 da game.
  • Demo is awesome canĀ“t stop playing it, i dont see any diference between normal and realistic mode both are easy.
  • Cant wait for this..... As for the stealth, based on the demo,it looks as if we will be given the option to either stealth, or run and gun. I dont understand why people are saying the stealth is gone from the game
  • April 15th News: DELAYED until April 17th. Dude thats like FOREVER!!!
  • Demo did not impress. AI was WEAK. But there you go.
  • @#9 It isn't even out yet and your saying what it hasn't got and comparing it to previous splinter cells wtf are you retarded
  • @19 i agree the AI was poor in the demo but i agree that this looks awesome. I hope co op is as much fun as on the old games :)
  • Says out on Apr. 16 but isn't that for Europe and on the 13th is for US kinda a typo unless that's for the European readers.
  • I canceled my preorder. It seems like it's going to be a fun game, but I was hoping for something closer to Chaos Theory or the previous gen Double Agent, so I'll rent it or wait until it comes down in price. I hated the fact that one of the first things you had to do was shoot two guys, since I'm a strictly non-lethal sort of guy with Chaos Theory & Double Agent.
  • The demo was incredible! I can't wait for the 13th!
  • Yay, it's actually coming out now =)
  • ordered it today on Amazon, so looking forward to this demo was fun.
  • alright im sick of this..people FPS isnt every game with a gun..it means First Person Shooter..so complaining this is another fps sounds, to me anyways, very ignorant..learn your lingo before spewing out junk!!! otherwise..game looks great
  • This is third person morons who says its first.. damn
  • played demo like 5 times already can't get enough!
  • The demo is just omfg, so good, cant stop playing it when im not playing mw2, I am a huge SC fan alone, and convicction just blows my mind so much. Btw I thought it was released April 13th, and not April 16th? error maybe, or moved into friday instead tuesday.
  • #9: I completely agree. Me and my friend both think this will be an amazing game, the only problem is that it has the Splinter Cell name attached to it. Yes, stealth is there, but the usage of stealth is different from previous Splinter Cell games. Previous Splinter Cell games allowed us to sneak by entire areas without having to be noticed, and made getting into any sort of confrontation secondary. Now, it feels reversed, it feels as though everyone must be killed, and you can use to do that. In a way, it's like comparing a Rifle and a Pistol. Both shoot bullets and are lethal, but that's basically where the similarities end.
  • @30 the North American release is the 13th, and the European is the 16th. so they probably just made a mistake.
  • Demo was absolutely terrible. Conviction shouldn't even have the title of a Splinter Cell game.
  • @32 no mistakes the site is run by people in the UK.
  • when the hell am I suppose to go to the bathroom and get food without cut scenes?
  • Praise Zeus.
  • I kind of agree here with it making you want to kill people and not just sneaking around them. But this is just a demo and plus this way it gives you more options sometime a badass spy needs to be badass and bust a cap in some bad guys ass. *said ass like 3 times there* The new features just makes gameplay faster, which is a good thing.
  • @23, They have you shooting 2 guys at the beginning to show off the 'mark' system. Don't know why people are complaining really there is no weight to your argument. You play the majority of the game being stealthy or not, your choice, with some brutal stuff thrown in for good measure. It's a defo first day rent with my mate, probably max the g's out on this in a week!
  • Weird. I played Double Agent when it came out on 360 (I don't know when) and absolutely hated it. Didn't think it could even hold a candle to the original or Chaos Theory but I just got done beating it over again on 'Hard mode' and I found it thoroughly enjoyable...have no idea why this time did the trick for me but I'm a little bit excited to play this. Haven't played the demo because I don't play online therefore do not have a gold account but I'll download it sometime in the next week. Sounds like they stripped away a lot of what made Splinter Cell so awesome in the first place. But hell, if they can make the game have a bad ass action feel yet still have the ability to go through it stealthy...I'm all for that! As long as it isn't the E3 06 demo video of Sam throwing chairs! That lo
  • That looked weak*
  • They say there will be no waiting. There will be a lot of waiting - it's STEALTH game^^ (and I don;t mean the part about loading smartasses:-P). Any word on why they got rid of beard?? Was rly looking forward to that changed look....
  • @#38, it's not just the mark system that gets me. It's the hand to hand 'kills' (no lethal vs. non-lethal option). It's the interrogation section (no smart ass comments and jokes, just Sam smashing a dude's face through a urinal). I know Sam's pissed and all, but I don't like the cruel and sadistic side of him that we're seeing. Like I said, it seems like a fun game, but it doesn't look like the games I know and love, and I'm not going to risk dropping 60 bucks on it.
  • i was really upset this game was delayed 2 months, but glad to see if will finally hit the shelves.this game will be worth the 60 bucks and its nice to see sam go a little darker on this.
