i hope so.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:47 AM
I agree that I cant see it working with the mark/execution but it would be fun, een if it means taking it out!Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:47 AM
It would be nice but it's a good point that it would'nt work well with the gameplay. Still lots of DLC and deniable ops maps would be enough for me.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:49 AM
hope so, im playin Double Agent at the momentTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:50 AM
Yes. It would be weird with new mechanics... We don't care! I want it back!Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:53 AM
never really playeed it is it goodTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:55 AM
couldnt the tag an enemy be like a kill streak kill three people unlock the tag ability sorry for double postTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 06:57 AM
Double agent Multiplayer sucked compared to Pandora and Chaos Theory multiplayer. Ruined it with Double agent multiplayer. Bring back Pandora and Chaos Theory Mercs and Spies!Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:06 AM
@8 This. If they just port the Chaos Theory multiplayer, then it would be great. Fix the glitches, pick new maps, and the MP would work fine.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:13 AM
Ubisoft has to be careful with whether or not they do end up putting out a DLC version of Spies vs Mercs simply because if they do, they've basically confirmed that if people piss and moan enough, they'll get their own way.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:20 AM
I thought they said they weren't going to do this for conviction?Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:32 AM
It's a shame, but considering we already have a Co-Op Campaign, an SP Campaign, plus other Co-Op & Competitive game modes, surely we're spoilt for choice already ;-) Nice to see a Dev. that isn't thinking about what's definately going to be DLC BEFORE the game is released. Hopefully they'll give it a few months before exploring that avenue X-DTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:48 AM
@8, Dat.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:52 AM
I hope they do put it in. It was fun and relatively balanced in D.A. I don't see why they didn't put it in. I don't understand how the new mechanics can change it that much. Your still a spy and can crawl threw vents and such.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:53 AM
How about a Spy vs. Spy version but with 16 players? It'd be like the 3rd person acrobatic version of Rainbow Six, but it'd be balanced a bit better.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 07:54 AM
why dont they release spies versus mercs on its own on xbla, i think that could work they could than keep it how it used to be and not try to make it work with the new mechanics of this splinter cell.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:06 AM
I never liked SC multiplayer, I played it twice I think on Pandora Tomorrow, then ruled it out of existence, so the lack of it in Conviction doesn't affect me at all, I'd even say I'm glad about it.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:07 AM
YES!Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:09 AM
even if its weird if its free it dosn't matter...Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:09 AM
I really hope not. I'm so sick of every single game that comes out having some type of competitive MP attached to it. There isn't a NEED for that in every game. BioShock is the latest example of that. That franchise is wonderful without. I'm sure Jordan Thomas thought it was a novel idea...and maybe so...ON PAPER...but the brutal truth is that competitive MP should be reserved for those franchises that can truly bring something worthy to the table...Gears...Halo...CoD...Unreal T...some, and I mean SOME sports titles...and maybe a few others.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:31 AM
@15: Some Spy Vs Spy action? Will one side be dressed in a white mack and hat and the other in black? Weapons of choice: dynamite bombs, giant springs, acid buckets, guns with strings, and time bombs. All that's left is to set it in an embassy and you're sorted! ... Or am I the only one that remembers that game? :)Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:59 AM
The game will still suck.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 09:16 AM
thanks for the wasted comment solomon..if its going to suck, do everyone who wants to play this game a favor and get out of here and go back to playing what ever game it is that you enjoy since this game sucksTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 09:19 AM
I don't see how it wouldn't work even after playing the game already. Just take away mark and execute from spies and give radars or heartbeat sensors/thermals to mercs and it would be like old days:-PTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 09:41 AM
JUST LIKE RESIDENT EVIL 5... It's a business and its a more profitable move, deal with itTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 10:46 AM
Better be careful when buying this used. Possible lawsuit. Zing.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 12:02 PM
SvM on chaos theory is still the no.1 online game imo. If the guy doesnt know how to make a SvM game then just update Chaos Theorys SvM and throw in a few maps. Aint difficultTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 12:16 PM
Taking all bets on DLC being included on the disc, which will need to be bought to unlock at a later date... :(Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 01:05 PM
@16 Excellent comment.Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 02:37 PM
Mark and execute fucked everything up. :/Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 03:29 PM
i like it better this way... probably easier for achievements anyway... am i right people!... but the game should be great too... i'd know if it stopped freezing on me... [got it 2 hours ago]Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 03:37 PM
I played svm for so many years and love it still to this day they can cut out the mark and execute completely from multiplayer then it would be fine =? wats the problem ??Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 04:29 PM
The Spies vs Mercs mechanics were always different from the core game anyway! And who wouldn't want going up against a real person instead of the idiotic AI that can be tricked, easily, lol! And to the above poster complaining about not every game having competitive multiplayer, Spies vs. Mercs is a unique experience and holds its own in against other multiplayer titans! All those games you mentioned give you the same experience search shoot 1st or die, respawn. Rinse. Repeat. It was a system that was well-balanced by the time Chaos Theory came out, and I'd love to see it tweaked and revisited as either DLC or in the next game!Tuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 05:46 PM
I never played svm. When I got D.A the online community was dead. Maybe I'll be able to soonTuesday, April 13, 2010 @ 08:19 PM
@21 I remember that game.Wednesday, April 14, 2010 @ 02:45 AM
wait there is no spy vs mercsWednesday, April 14, 2010 @ 02:46 AM
why would they take that out. I loved hear the mercs scream and bitch when you go all ninja mode and snap there neckWednesday, April 14, 2010 @ 04:52 AM
Non of u are true splinter cell fans if u don't like da's multiplayer I bet non of u even play double agent anymore ur all fakes. And to the developers y hav u vhanged the button layout? U say mp will spoil the new pysics or wotever but u dint hav to make the new pysics in the first place???Wednesday, April 14, 2010 @ 09:26 PM
@21 If you are talking about Double Agent on the original Xbox than ya I remember that. That game was much better than the 360 version. Take out some of the new features such as the M&E, and I think it would play fine. Just take away the secondary weapons of the spies as well. @38 you might want to learn how to spell.Friday, April 16, 2010 @ 11:33 PM

follow the link on comment 41, if i have learned anything from facebook, its that it has power in influencing these kinds of things.Monday, April 19, 2010 @ 01:19 AM
Double Agents mechanics and gameplay was bad altogether in my opinion im a huge splinter cell fan seems like when montreal get their creative thinking into it there comes a better game. I favor Chaos Theory way over DA.Monday, April 19, 2010 @ 01:46 PM
I still play DAWednesday, May 05, 2010 @ 04:38 PM
I would love to see this happen. I don't like that if I want to play multiplayer I only get to play with one friend.Thursday, May 27, 2010 @ 07:15 PM
BRING BACK Spies vs Mercs.... I think they should just make their own section of this type of gameplay on the menu's, (on the menu's it has Co-op & Multiplayer .. They should put a Spies vs Mercs gameplay option right under that or above it). They should have Hunter, Infiltration, Last Stand, Face-Off, and the campaigns all continue to use the Mark and Execute ... but the spies vs merks gameplay could get rid of Mark and Execute. The mercs could have some gadgets like thermal vision and the spies with knives or something like that. I think that would personally make the online play much better. The online play now is mainly just you and your partner against dumb AI's that can be tricked so easily. What's the fun in that. Atleast with SvM you can play other players and test your skill ag

Talking to Video Games Daily, Splinter Cell: Conviction's Game Director Patrick Redding discussed the possibility of introducing the much-loved Spies vs Mercs multiplayer mode from Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory and Double Agent as post-launch DLC for the game.
Redding argued that the mode wouldn't fit in with the new game's mechanics, stating, "The concern is if we wanted that same feeling in multiplayer, and then said 'OK, it’s going to be adversarial, it's going to be asymmetrical and you're going to have Mercs who are basically equivalent to the dudes you're murdering in large numbers in single player, and then you've got the spies… I don't see that going any way other than badly."
However, Redding doesn't rule out Spies vs Mercs as a potential DLC update in the future, going on to say, "I don’t mean to say that there isn’t a possibility of exploring that, right now perhaps I lack the imagination to see it immediately".
He also said that if Spies vs Mercs were to be tackled as a DLC add-on, the concept would have to be up to scratch and work with SCC's new gameplay devices before even being considered: "I think if we tried to go out the gates with it, I just think right now those same players that were mad it hadn’t been included would be cursing our names for trying to make it work and failing!"
When pressed on the potential for Spies vs Mercs as future DLC, Redding commented, "Well, DLC is a huge can of worms that I’m not going to try and launch into now. We’re going to introduce some interesting stuff with DLC, but I think that in the bigger picture we’re always going to be looking to find ways to expand on the ideas in co-op and multiplayer".
So, will we be seeing Spies vs Mercs for Splinter Cell: Conviction? Not for a long while yet, if at all. But then don't rule it out completely just yet, seems to be the conclusion to draw from all of this.
