Red Faction: Armageddon
New Red Faction: Armageddon Screens Stomp Into Sight
Written Wednesday, June 09, 2010 By Dan Webb
View author's profile

Following on from last weekend's Red Faction: Armageddon announcement, THQ today sent us across some screens to tide us over until we get to check it out at this year's E3.

Red Faction: Armageddon, which will feature as one of THQ's major titles at this year's trade show, is taking the action underground in March 2011 after the surface of Mars becomes uninhabitable after a series of apocalyptic events.

Taking control of Alec Mason's grandson, Darius, you'll disturb an evil force that the entrepreneur unfortunately uncovered with his money-making ways below the surface.

We'll be checking it out at the show this year and bringing you our opinions, in the meantime check out the screens in the gallery here.

Instant buy for me, played Guerilla non-stop until Volition destroyed the game by creating DLC-only playlists.

@#6 - It's all about PR relationships and region accessibility - each publication isn't in competition with one another, so it shouldn't really matter =) We'll cover anything and everything, but it's all dependent on when we can get our hands on them ;)

@#7 - You should do the right thing and steal material from other websites for the sake of fresh news. As long as you cite your sources its good journalism.

@#8 - I'm pretty sure that will never happen =P Stealing content is never the route to go. Plus, it is fresh news. I hate to recycle the same old line, but the internet doesn't revolve around you and many people don't have time to scour the net to see what's what, so we bring everything here =)
@#9 - Ha ha, it's cool. Fixed.

"Aliens vs. Red Faction"? Not sure about a survival horror reboot, I quite liked the open world on Mars.

@#11 - So it's fresh news based on your watch? The internet revolves around you then. Fair enough anyway just thought I'd point out the depth of the above screen shots for those curious enough. :)

Looks different. Doesn't look like RF 1 or 2, which were amazing. Or RFG. But different can be good.

I doubt I'm trolling by adding depth to this article with an external link with more information and a genuine release time followed by constructive criticism. I know its shite weather today but don't try and be downer by pinning me negatively :)

p.s. - This game comes with 4 player "horde - like" extermination mode: Online.

@#17 - *facepalm* There is an external link in the article. There is a release month in the article. You're trolling. Plain and simple. You just told us to steal screens, ha ha. Either trolling or an idiot... it's one or the other. Now wander off and annoy someone else.

LOL i love Webb's facepalms, always make me laugh :)
OT: this game looks pretty good. I never finished the first one as the open world aspect kinda dulled me out. I hope this one is more 3rd person or 1st person shooter esque.

External link to your own website? Nicely done.
And a genuine release time of the screenshots, ya know like I said in my first post. *counter - facepalm*
If the images had a copyright and you didn't cite your sources then yes it would be stealing, it was constructive criticism, I mean, why wait for screen shots to be sent to you, you could be out hunting them getting up to date information for your audience.
And again trolling? I'm contributing relative information with each post I make, which is contrary to trolling.

p.s. - the game will be accompanied with a comic book series, an arcade game and a SyFy television movie to help boost the franchise.

Burnill, constructive criticism doesn't need to be nasty.

And I'm sure that Webb and everyone else here would release this news when they had more details about them or quotes, it's easy to just say stuff but actually posting news with alot of detail is more interesting rather than a pointless one saying what you've just said.

@#22 - I give up. Whatever picture you paint over it, we get our own assets. We don't take them off other sites. It's called etiquette - treat others as you'd expect to be treated - something you don't obviously understand. Now zip it or I'll take your comment posting privileges away.

Then as a commenter its a privilege not to be tied down by etiquette. Filling in the blanks can be our jobs.

Franchise expansion source:

4 player co-op and past screenshot release source:

p.s. Telling a commenter to be quiet? Niiiiiice

p.p.s. Red faction Armageddon will hit the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in March 2011. Source:

this game is so far from what red faction was in the beginning, i think its ridiculous... the game might be good, but the plot sounds like a rehash of doom, and im just very upset that they aren't going back to the geomod, FPS i remember as the first red faction... i enjoyed the destroyable environment in RF:G but its only the buildings, not the landscape, and thats what it should be... not tying to be a complete nay sayer, or depressing...

@#25 - Sure, don't be tied down by etiquette, but we don't want to hear about it to be honest. Oh, and it's my privilege to take away your posting privileges. You can continue to push me though.

I disagree. I think people do want to hear the extra details about the game like 4 player co-op and the extra stuff coming out with it.

So what am I pushing you with? Because I've ended my initial points when you told me no. All I'm doing now is replying to you, and posting additional details. What is my crime?

p.s. - The game will be reusing its Geomod 2.0 engine with possible upgrades, so plenty of destructables again! source:

We like Webb. We like this site. If you can get your info elsewhere, then go there.

OT -- This looks ok but I never played Dead Space. Loved open Mars though.

ok, not overly interested in red faction, and yet still the game has already created one of the most amusing and entertaining forums of all time, so thanks to both webb (for providing a good few laughs here) and burnill (for providing some quality laugh fodder) ...keep it up guys, this is officially my favorite forum now!

Well I certainly don't have time to trawl teh interwebz for all my 360 news, so I come here. I'll accept info from posters when they cite their sources but if it's clear that they're being a jackass then I'll just skip what they're saying.

Anyway, I didn't like the vast empty expanses of RF:G, it was quite plain, which I realise is quite understandable considering the setting but, for me, it got boring fast and when you shoot up a town it stayed shot up which made it even less inviting to go back. I like the destruction element of the GeoMod 2.0 engine and physics but that was about it for RF:G. Hopefully the story will be a lot better in RF:A.

Looks cool, but I was a little let down by RFG. It was fun and all but wasn't really true to the series. Also, @39 I think they already said this will be in the same fashion as Guerilla. Don't quote me on that, but I think I read that somewhere.

dam finally that burndouche guy got banned. It was interesting reading what he had to say until it became a pissing contest... anyways OT this game looks sick, I just bought guerilla because I saw the trailer for this game and wanted to be caught up in the story. So needless to say im already hyped.

Last time I checked, this wasn't Burnill's website. So yes, Burnill, if you're still lurking here, the internet does revolve around Webb, because he delivers us Xbox 360 related news and we snap it up.
