Star of the Front Mission Evolved show is the game's bi-pedal tanks called 'wanzers'. In this Developer Diary, some of the central members of the dev team at Double Helix Games and Square Enix take you through the new features of FME's wanzers, showing the different classes and features to look forward to when the game launches.
Alongside your standard walking wanzer are the four-legged wanzer designed for heavier loads and the nimble hover tank, which can glide over water and perform fast manoeuvres. Each can equip rifles, machine guns, bazookas and a variety of shoulder-mounted weaponry too, making them a force to be reckoned with.
Then there's the EDGE mechanic that enables Wanzers to slow time and get a better strategic position on the enemy. An in-depth customisation system also lets you change every part of your wanzer, including arms, legs, torso, hand weapon, shoulder weapon and backpack type. You can also add decals, various other parts and different paint jobs.
Front Mission Evolved will be grinding metal in September 2010.
