Yoostar 2: In The Movies
E3 2010: Yoostar 2: Movie Karaoke Body On - Our Token Kinect Game

Considering that Kinect was such a big focus for Microsoft this year, we thought we had to at least check out one game in action – it’d be rude not to. Rather than opting for Your Shape or getting comfy with a tiger in Kinectimals, we opted for something completely different. Ladies and gentlemen, I present Yoostar 2: Movie Karaoke, and as the name suggests, it’s movie karaoke.

“Thanks for stating the obvious Dan, we kind of guessed that... it’s in the name you idiot!! But what does that actually entail?”

Sorry, what that basically means is that you get to put yourself in one of the many licensed movie scenes and play the part that would usually be played by a big Hollywood celeb – or Arnold Schwarzenegger (ouch!).

“How does that work Dan? You’re not exactly being clear here?”

Well, when you’re in front of Kinect you will appear on screen where the actor you are replacing would have stood. As the words appear on screen, you’ll have to say them as they light up, you know... like karaoke but with a movie scene.

While it will not only allow you to recreate certain movie scenes with you in the spotlight, but part of the draw for wannabe exhibitionists will be that, not only can you dress up and look the part, but you can pretty much ad-lib and then rewrite the scene if you so wish.

Join us as we go “body on” (we need to think of a cooler way to say hands on with Kinect, because hands on doesn’t work and body on sounds ridiculous) with Yoostar 2 and chat with Shawn Rosen, Director of Project Development at Yoostar, about the game.

User Warning: Watch out, my supreme acting skills may shock and horrify you into a coma!

That video definitely bored me to near death. The game itself looks like it could be decent though.

Looks interesting. I've been wanting a movie kareoke game for a while.

Only thing I'm worried about is only 60 scenes at launch? The scenes look like they are 20-30 seconds long, a bit different to the 3-4 minutes for most songs.

Remember when games used to pride themselves on having as many features and content as possible?

On !DAY 1! he says 500 scenes will be available. But for our hard earned cash we get 60...approximately 10 percent of the total. In a market that is flooded with sequels, how much longer can we tolerate purchasing incomplete games?

And for the love of god, games are getting shorter and shorter! If this is for casual appeal, that's great - make the prices more casual too! Don't sell me a 9 hour game for $60(us) then tell me that on the same day I can drop another $20 for all the content that you all ready have made for it! I'm trying to by a house for crying out loud!

I know I'm not the first person to complain about this, but they're just going to keep doing it as long as we keep paying for it.
