Capcom has fought the whole of Marvel and SNK in various titles over the years, but now it looks as though the company might be taking on Namco if circulating rumours dug up by Game Informer turn out to be true.
Namco Bandai's Tekken producer, Katsuhiro Harada and Capcom's Street Fighter producer, Yoshinori Ono were on form at this year's Evo fighting game tournament, playfully teasing one another with a bit of friendly on-stage banter, which ties in neatly to rumoured plans for two fighting games that would see the two fight giants face off against one another, with each producer working on a separate game.
Apparently, a trailer is set to debut at Comic-Con on Saturday, July 24th 2010 according to GI's sources, that may reveal Capcom's 'Capcom vs. Namco' game and Namco Bandai's own 'Namco vs. Bandai' title. What? Two separate games? That's reportedly the plan, with Namco's game utilising the Tekken 6 engine, with one-button per limb, 3D movement and boxing kangaroos no doubt, while Capcom's would be all dragon punches, 2.5D and Ultra Combos.
This is pretty mind-boggling stuff, if true. Imagine Ryu and co. throwing hadoukens in a Tekken game and conversely, Kazuya Mishima et al mixing it up in a Street Fighter game. Pray that this happens.
