Shank - as if it didn't already look cool enough - is getting even more awesome, with this latest trailer and batch of screens showing off the game's co-op mode, which lets you buddy up for a special backstory separate from the main single-player narrative.
Pairing up the game's main hero with what looks like a young Danny Trejo, with big bandito moustache, the co-op campaign looks every bit as manic as its single-player counterpart, with developer Klei Entertainment taking great care and effort to avoid shoehorning "a lame multiplayer into the storyline for the feature bullet point."
Klei made the call to add co-op back in October 2009, stating that the decision was made after coming up with this list, posted on the Official Shank Blog:
- We think co-op would rock, and everyone is asking for it
- We don’t want to force it into the mainstory line, as we really designed the camera, the levels, the story, and the bosses to be played by a single person
- In order for us to do co-op properly, we should really design levels and bosses specifically to be played that way
- Let’s surprise the fans and create a special co-op campaign! That won’t be hard to do at all! (It was really god damn hard)
