Mass Effect 2
Gamescom 2010: BioWare Interview: Founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk Talk Mass Effect and Dragon Age
Written By

Mass Effect and Dragon Age are two of BioWare's - and by extension EA's - biggest franchises, commanding massive fanbases who soak up every novel and comic book spin-off with a ravenous appetite. To say that the Dragon Age sequel and conclusion to the Mass Effect trilogy are two of the most anticipated titles of the next year or so, would be a bit of an understatement.

And although Mass Effect 3 hasn't been formally announced yet, that didn't stop us asking a few burning questions about the next instalment in the series and beyond. Will we see characters from the spin-off literature in the next game? Who knows. If there's one thing that Bioware founders, Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka believe, it's that anything is a posssibility.

Even Dragon Age pants. Incidentally, if Dragon Age under-garments do end up in the BioWare Store, we will be wanting royalties.

I wanna see Sanders and Orinia (Female turian general/diplomat) in Mass Effect 3.
Although the ending of retribution seems to imply that they will be.

As far as quality work goes, I trust Bioware without hesitation. I'll be very curious to see how they handle the coming installations in these franchises.

I'm happy that, so far, EA hasn't ruined BioWare. I hope that non-ruining continues, because BioWare has some of my all time favorite games. Can't wait for ME 3.

The reason why they will always make successful games is they do research and listen to ALL the fans, not just the screaming fanchildren on the forums. That has been the death of other games. Either not listening, or just listening to the vocal minority. Look forward to all future Bioware games.

I hope we get to visit Earth in ME3. I also hope they bring back more of the RPG elements. I love ME2, but it felt too much like Gears of Mass Effect. Better skill trees, more traditional armor/weapon/loot system (ME1 meets DAO), attributes and kill xp. A decent level cap like 50 or 60 would be great as well. And for the character import, let us tie up loose ends if we don't get DLC for that first.

@1: You obviously do if you wasted time to mention it. Trying to act like you don't care doesn't make you any better than people who just flat out admit "OHBOYFIRSTYAY!" The only thing that makes you different is you put a comment after the idiocy.

It's good to hear Greg say he knows that sometimes the fan feedback on stuff is a very vocal minority, which is good because sometimes that vocal part, minority or otherwise, are fucking idiots (see: people who say Mass Effect 2 isn't an RPG).

Also I laughed at the end where they claimed that they haven't formally announced Mass Effect 3 yet. I'm pretty sure they have, the loading screens in Mass Effect 2 tell you to hold onto your saves for use in Mass Effect 3. =P

I found it funny that for videos games we have all, most of us, all wanted to go to the stars! To leave the planet and travel the galaxies! (as such is a dream of life as well), but once we are given a universe at our hands, we demand to see the Earth once more lol funny funny.

I just hope they don't screw over their fans in the romance department with the games. I trust the games will be amazing either way, but those romances do play a big role, though, in Mass Effect 2 they felt trivial and stupid (lack of cinematic quality does that, and lack of emotion, I mean it was all silly clothed bumping and grind along the lines of that in DA, except DA gave many more choices. Even same gendered choices, if some are a bit.... questionable: zevran, god I hated that guy.) In Mass Effect the romance felt REAL for the character, if a bit... limited. It still felt more real for the character than any of them did in the sequel. More.. emotional? Though I still maintain I would have preferred Kaidan for my Shepard.

Bioware are absolutley amazing. Dragon Age Origins is one of, if not the best, RPG I've played. Can't wait for the second. And, although I haven't played Mass Effect, I know it's great from friends and reviewers, and anyone who played it.

Bioware is THE greatest company for Video games in its brief but compelling time line, I cant even begin to tell you how revolutional the Baldur's Gate series was and ontop of that i play through the Baldurs Gate series at least once a year... for the last 12 years its an amazing game and everything sense has been gold especially Mass effect although all their products have been great i dont think anything has compaired to Baldur's Gate or Mass Effect.

@14, it only costs 14 dollars to fix that sarcasm detector, don't be a cheapass and go and do that. Also, the "only" difference? The whole annoying thing about those ZOMGLOLFIRST people is that they don't leave a comment. I did.

Freaking awesome!!!! So much content between these two story lines. A true testament to xbox 360. Sucks that it looks like they are going crossplatform now. :(
