How To Take a Penalty The FIFA 11 Way

When FIFA World Cup 2010 came out, it bravely decided to scrap the series' simplistic penalty taking mechanic and introduce something that requires a bit more skill than picking a corner and pressing a button. It also made it harder to sneak a peak at your mate's controller while he's taking a kick (admit it, we've all done it).
FIFA 11 is taking the same penalty taking system and refining it a bit, as this new tutorial video covering the basics of booting one into the onion bag from the spot shows. Just as before, you'll need to stop the composure needle in the green area of the bar and hold the shoot button to get the right amount of power.
Kick with too much power, and you'll boot it wide, whereas too little power will result in an embarassing pea-roller. You also have to guide an invisible reticle with the left analog stick, which is a bit of an art in itself. Fail to direct your shot at enough of an angle, and the keeper can easily scoop it up. Direct your shot at too severe an angle and it'll go wide. Alternatively, you can hold RB for a sweet little finesse shot. Cheeky.
Sound complicated? It's not too difficult. Take a look at the Penalty Taking Basics Tutorial video to get a head start for when FIFA 11 ships on October 1st, 2010 in Europe, September 28th, 2010 in North America.
