8 Messy Splatterhouse Screens And Soundtrack Deets Land In a Bucket Of Offal

Splatterhouse was a proper video game nasty as far as 16-bit blood-curdling violence was concerned back in the Mega Drive/Genesis days, but these latest screens for the current-gen Splatterhouse reboot make those old games look like child's play by comparison.

In short, they're a blood-spattered mess, showing the game's Jason Voorhees-style, hockey mask-sporting protagonist, college student Rick Taylor, punching monsters into a bleeding puddle of dismembered limbs and entrails. They don't call it Splatterhouse for nothing, you know. There's enough blood here to refloat a hundred Titanics, we reckon.

Namco Bandai has also released details of the game's soundtrack, which will feature licensed music from a variety of merry thrash metal minstrels, such as 'Goatwhore', 'Mastodon' and 'Lamb of God'. 'Goatwhore', eh? Erm...nice.

Here's the full track list that will feature in Splatterhouse:

  • The Accused – “Pounding Nails”
  • ASG – “Dream Song”
  • Cavalera Conspiracy – “Must Kill”
  • 5 Finger Death Punch – “Dying Breed”
  • Goatwhore – “Apocalyptic Havok”
  • The Haunted – “Hollow Ground”
  • High On Fire - “Fire, Flood & Plague”
  • Invisible Enemies – “Dead Eyes”
  • Lamb of God – “Walk With Me in Hell”
  • Mastodon – “Blood and Thunder”
  • Municipal Waste – “Rigorous Vengeance”
  • Mutant Supremacy – “Morbid Dismemberment”
  • Terrorizer – “Dead Shall Rise”
  • WolfShirt – “Headlong Into Monsters”
Also, be sure to check out all eight of the new bloody, oozing, fleshy, meaty, chunky screenshots in the gallery, and perhaps keep a sick bag handy and hold off on eating that bacon sandwich for now.
Splatterhouse is slated for November 23rd, 2010 in the US with the UK and European release to follow in the same week, on November 26th, 2010. Bloody hell! Literally!

#4 - Me too! I hope this one has poltergeist rooms like the original! I loved those! But I guess that it probably won't, as furniture doesn't bleed that well. :) Really looking forward to this, let us hope that it does not slip into next year.

Screens and tracks are nice, but the gameplay video I saw several months ago was really dissapointing (walk in a room, beat 5 ppl, move on to the next room and beat 5 more in button mashing style, with no combos. Also it had really ugly level design and decorations) Without any kind of demo I wont be getting this game for sure.

Wow, Terrorizer in a videogame. Who would have thought that when they released their 1st album 18 years ago! :)

Well at least the amount of blood in these screens is cohesive with the name "Splatterhouse." I never played these games as a kid, but I remember seeing them at the rental places... I knew my Mom would never let me play this as a kid! Ha ha!

Here's hoping this will be good. The major gripe I have about this soundtrack is...for a game like this to lack Rob Zombie? That's just crazy!

WUT 'effing Municipal Waste and Goatwhore? SOLD. I'll ignore the handful of faggy nu metal songs. Cavalera can 5 finger death punch his own butt hole.

Max Cavalera is a legend. He's been in Sepultura, Nailbomb, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy and is believed to have played in Brujeria. Just because his music is labeled one type of genre you don't like doesn't mean the guy isn't kick-ass.

A tad bit too gory for me. I may not pick this up, based on those screenshots.
It may be my lost, but the gore in this game seems to be a little extreme.

Too bad they settled for crap rock bands. They should have used metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, Suffocation, etc.. It would fit the theme much better. And not suck.

I'm shocked. The last trailer they had out used a shitty remake of Morbid Minister by Macabre. They didn't include that? MUTINY!!!
