EA Unveils a Voyage Through The Human Body With MicroBot

EA is bringing its own fantastic voyage through the human body to the Xbox Live Arcade next year, with MicroBots, in which you control one of the titular microscopic ships on a mission to destroy a biotechnological infestation.

Invented by MicroHexon, the MicroBot is capable of being injected into the human bloodstream to combat and eliminate disease and infection at a cellular level. However, as tends to be the case with technology, something has gone wrong, causing nanomachines to bond with diseased cells and begin multiplying at an alarming rate.

That's where you come in. Piloting a prototype MicroBot, you have to seek and destroy the damaging infection before it eats up its human host from the inside out. That's gotta hurt.

Travelling through fluids (steady on), to hearts, lungs, brain, down veins and arteries, there'll be hazards to overcome and 20 pieces of upgradable microtechnology to discover and use to customise your MicroBot with new weapons, defences and special abilities.

MicroBots will also boast drop-in/drop-out co-operative play where you'll be able to simultaneously customise your MicroBots. MicroBots is due out in winter 2011. Check out the teaser trailer and six screens in the gallery.

Ha ha, nice reference to "Innerspace." Classic. I'm actually quite interested in this game. I'm with Dark Jedi in that I hope that it is a mostly, if not entirely, accurate depiction of the human body. Unless that was sarcasm, in which case I humbly admit that I fell prey. :)

Sounds a bit Microcosm-y. Which is never a good thing.

Anyone remember the tv show The Magic Schoolbus? I remember an episode where they shrank the bus and went inside the body. This sounds exactly like it.

I remember an old PC game that was very similar to what this sounds like it will be. From the mid 80's I think? Maybe on the Commodore?

I found the name of that old PC game, it was called MicroSurgeon. It was an old Intellivision game that was then ported to a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A computer.

this has an interesting concept and if done properly it could become into something good but it depends on how well the make the game in the first place.
and for the fact that it is an arcade game, and it has these visuals it is quite interesting

Reminds me of the movie "The Fantastic Voyage," where they shrink a sub with doctors on it and send it inside a guy to save him from a blood clot or something. Game looks cool; will have to keep an eye out.
