Capcom has confirmed that the Dead Rising series has exceeded the four million unit mark with Dead Rising 2 shipping over 2 million copies globally following its release at the end of September, which just goes to show that the enduring appeal of slaughtering zombies is as powerful as ever.

What's more, Capcom's acquisition of Dead Rising 2 developer Blue Castle Games announced at TGS 2010 has finally been ratified by the Canadian authorities, meaning that the developer shall now be a wholly owned Capcom subsidiary operating under the new name of Capcom Game Studio Vancouver.

So, there you go. Next up for Dead Rising? That'll be the return of Frank West and his trusty camera for Dead Rising 2: Case West exclusively for Xbox 360.

Although I'm glad to see that Dead Rising is doing well, but why does Capcom have to change Blue Castle's name to Capcom Studio Vancouver? I would be kind of upset about that if I were Blue Castle.

I love this game and glad to hear it has done so well. As far as what's next, how about they try to fix the saving problem in co-op before they work on Case West.

@13 and the events are replaced with stopping at little islands, fixing the ship every now and again, whirlpools, undead killer whales, etc XD

Very beastly. Game is defintitely worth the buzz compared to the original. Much like Assassins's Creed (seems to be my most mentionable today...I must be excited), they resolved a LOT of issues that fans had. Mainly that you can fail everything and still be allowed to finish out the 72 hours as well as save survivors and kill psychos. It really impressed me for many things but the co-op is just too much fun! Plus, it's not really a spoiler but there's not too many opportunities where you get to have a Tiger as a temporary ally/survivor. I

Cool. But Capcom, when can we get our pre-order codes for the avatar stuff? What is taking so damn long, all you have to do is generate some codes. It should not take you a month. Also we want more news about Case West.

@13: Yeah, they can call the game "Death to Dead Rising" because that's what it will be if you set the game on a tiny cramped cruise ship instead of a nice big city or mall.

"Tiny cramped Cruise Ship"

That being said, I wouldn't want it on a ship.

@ people criticizing the Cruise Ship idea?

Seriously? Your average Cruise Liner is NOT tiny. I've been on a cruise that was probably bigger than the 59th St. Plaza Hotel in lower Manhattan. This could totally be doable and even if it wasn't as large as that - it just adds to the tension. Personally, maybe a full game wouldn't be the greatest but it's certainly not a bad idea at all. Stranded in the ocean, multiple tiers to the ship, possible ports or other ship encounters could definitely create a solid plot. It would be a perfect XBLA or add-on idea but it could work as a full game. Major issue would probably be tight areas around the sides but most Cruise ships have very open and extensive interiors.
Wouldn't know until it came to fruition.

to all of you talking about the cruise for the next setting, i don't thing it's a bad idea, but probably more like a dlc or something like that. And you are forgetting that resident evil dead aim is set on a cruise.
