This looks quite cool. I like a lot of what Double Fine do so I'll be keen to see how this is received.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 03:12 PM
Stacking is a winners game! :PTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 03:14 PM
GOOD. LORD. If Tim Schafer was a woman... I would marry... uh... her? xDTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 03:23 PM
This one i'll definitely have to try. I've liked what Double Fine has done recently and quirky puzzlers like this peak my interest.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 03:30 PM
whatever those guys over there at double fine are smoking... i need some of it! them sure are crazyTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 03:31 PM
poor title but looks quite goodTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 03:39 PM
It would be ironic if the gamerscore stacked for this game lol.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 04:11 PM
I think I might have to get this... looks really fun.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 04:21 PM
Look good. The quirky music helps sell it for sure, and the fact the player obviously knows what he is doing, so it looks to play well. i'm a XBLA whore, so i will prob get this, although i passed on Costume quest, Since i am not fan of the battle format.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 04:32 PM
So, is it me, or is Double Fine one of the most overrated developers out there? Brutal Legend was a big disappointment, as was Costume Quest. Hopefully this one is better...Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 04:42 PM
@11 I actually like Brutal Legend the DLC were weak but it was a fun game overall... They should have put more Iron Maiden in my opinion...Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 05:01 PM
Oh my gosh. What an fantastic idea for a game! And it works!Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 05:08 PM
i was reading it and thought "Russain dolls... what a crap idea"... then i watched the video and i STFU x)... true storyTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 05:17 PM
Reminds of Transiberian^^ I really liked Costume quest demo and currently waiting on DoTW. This looks pretty interesting as well!Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 05:38 PM
I wasn't a fan of Brutal Legend but Costume Quest was pretty creative and this looks like an idea that could work.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 06:02 PM
@11 It only takes someone with good taste to understand that Double Fine is one of the most creative bigger named dev. team out there right now. While all these mediocre and derivative games are being made by lazy devs, Double Fine are always trying to give us something fresh and exciting.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 06:16 PM
This looks really cute. Definitely picking this one up too.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 06:57 PM
this game looks pretty fun, what little I've played of Costume Quest I really enjoyed, so definitely will check this one outTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 07:21 PM
The cards with the words on them are right out of winterbottom.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 07:26 PM
genius....an interesting puzzlerTuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 07:31 PM
#8, now that would be intresting. the start music reminded me of the music guys in the bar in star wars, this does indeed intrest me...Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 07:37 PM
In my eyes this is shit. When will a good arcade game show up finally?Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 07:46 PM
@23: some reasoning to your statement would be nice. otherwise you run the risk of coming off as someone intentionally trying to stir up trouble.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 08:06 PM
@24 You don't mean ... a TROLL?Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 08:26 PM
#24 I just posted a comment from my view. There is no need to defend or justify it. Can't you accept that not everyone loves new shit they throw at us? Get over it.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 08:30 PM
@17 Taste is subjective to the individual, but creativity doesn't always mean good, FYI. Anyway, I WILL try this game. Just because I didn't like BL or CC doesn't mean I won't like this one.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 08:43 PM
This actually looks quite good and unique. Double FIne always come up with the strangest ideas. Hopefully it's only 800MS and not 1200Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 09:26 PM
@8 that wouldn't be ironic but whatever.. @7 I agree, the originality of the game was great, but the title could have been better.Tuesday, November 23, 2010 @ 10:24 PM
Day 1 purchase!Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 12:51 AM
I loved Costume Quest, and while this does seem to be pretty clever it doesn't interest me at all. I guess I'll just have to wait for the Christmas Costume Quest DLC.Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 12:54 AM

This actually looks like a lot of fun! And I dont say that too often..... Also in the article, aI think the top line is supposed to say "nearly" but it says "nary".Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 04:05 AM
That is kind of interesting concept. I mean to gain someone's ablities by basically "getting inside them". This reminds me of an old Shiny's game called Messiah. And being a Russian myself I'm really happy that finally someone used some of our national haritage in good way.Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 05:27 AM
@34 but when you think about it, what Russia was like in the past and what it is now(I am a Russian myself), you probably know that this is most likely the one and only thing that was positive about our backwoods country haritage.Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 06:07 AM
Psychonauts 2, Psychonauts 2... a man can dream can't he?Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 06:16 AM
@35 I'm sure you understand what I mean. I'm just really tired to see when word "Russian" in games and movies means "bad". Think of popular shooters for example - all the bad dudes are russians. Why not someone else? I'm not trying to protect ourselves and agree that we are really nasty bastards but c'mon. And I think that this concept is doing a great job maybe to raise interest in people's mind what is a matryoshka doll at least.Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 10:33 AM
@37 Sure, I see what you mean, Russians are mostly the bad guys, except for Call of Duty, where there are plenty of "good" russians. Of course also bad russian terrorists. Why don't they simply make some american bad guys, I wonder? As if americans never be evil.Wednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 11:25 AM
looks brilliant think i will get thisWednesday, November 24, 2010 @ 08:01 PM
Whoever thought of this was higher than Justin Bieber's voice. Just saying...Friday, December 10, 2010 @ 09:43 AM
If it's by Double Fine, it's a must buy
Tuesday, November 23, 2010
With Costume Quest hitting the Xbox Live Arcade nary a month ago, we didn't expect to be hearing about Double Fine's next game already, but here it is, with IGN dropping the first details on Tim Schafer's forthcoming project. That's surprise number one. Surprise number two is that the game is called 'Stacking' and stars one of those little wooden Russian nesting matryoshka dolls called Charlie Blackmore.
As Charlie, you're the world's smallest matryoshka doll in a quirky open-world 1930s setting inhabited by other Russian dolls. Assuming the roles of these other dolls by jumping into them, you can seduce guards, sneak past enemies or solve the game's puzzles in a variety of different ways through the magic of stacking.
You can jump into any of the matryoshka dolls to complete the game's objectives, meaning that strategy plays a big part. Stacking is slated for release in spring 2011 on XBLA. Check out the rather charming debut trailer here.
