Skate 3
Skate Team Working On New SSX Title?

With SSX staying off-piste for the last three years following the release of SSX Blur for the Wii, those recent rumblings of a new SSX title refuse to go away after the discovery of EA's registration of several new domain names for an SSX title.

Going under the possible moniker of SSX: Deadly Descent or SSX: First Descent, a source close to the development of the game has told Kotaku that an SSX title for HD consoles has been underway for the past two years. The source also claims that the new game will return SSX to its roots, but will utilise the analogue stick-flickery of Black Box's Skate series.

It's also said that members of the Skate dev team are working on the rumoured SSX title, while an online survey distributed this summer continued to fan the flames of speculation  with an unnamed snowboarding game described as "an intense, moment-to-moment battle against the forces created from riding your snowboard over the most spectacular and remote mountains on Earth." Reprtedly the gameplay involved "avoiding, out-running and even riding on top of massive avalanches; battling hurricane winds; white-outs; bitter cold; falling rocks; and gaping crevasses that open up at a moment's notice."

The survey also had the artwork below attached to it as an impression of what the game might look like. Sounds like it could be describing an SSX game to us. Hopefully, this weekend's VGAs will shed some light on all of these rumours, hearsay and speculation. Hell, it could even have something to do with that 'planet' teaser released for the VGAs a couple of weeks ago. Fingers crossed for some clarification sooner rather than later.

I loved the ssx series. Here's hoping black box can do a great job. I really loved the arcade style of the past games.

Damn! Can't wait to try this, with my bowl of soup, after a snowboarding day :)
There's nothing beautiful as doing some snowboard!

OW YEAH ! I've dreamt of this for a long time, now. Awesome ! Hope the game will be as much fun to play and cartoonish as the third SSX was on PS2. The gameplay a la Skate seems nice for this game. The old gameplay was a bit rough in my souvenirs.
want more news about this !

I would LOVE a new SSX. It's been way too long and it really was a great series.

I just hope they bring back all the old characters and keep the same gameplay.

I loved the SSX games, I just hope they don't take away the fun by over complicating the controls.

We'll see, unsure on this, but with Black Box (well some of them) in control, I'll keep my fingers crossed

Blur was good fun, i think people hated it only because it was a Wii Exclusive. But this is good news, bring it on!

As long as it's as ridiculous and over the top as SSX always has been I'll love it. SSX3 is one of my favourite games of all time.

I've been waiting for a proper SSX title since SSX3. On Tour was incredibly disappointing. Hopefully Black Box can bring some of the magic we saw in skate and skate 2 to a revival of the SSX series.

Maybe a change of game is what the guys at Black Box need since Skate 3 felt like it had no pulse and zero story.

Really excited about this besides the fact that you'd use the right stick for tricks. It could work well, it could play out horribly. I feel like I'll accidentally jump a lot more by using the joystick, but could pull of tricks a lot faster not having to press A then move my thumb back to the joystick.

Either way, SSX Tricky NEEDS to be a preorder bonus as an arcade game.

ugh no not effing skate controls, it should b like how it was in ssx 3 or whatever, like in that u cud do all these crazy tricks but then with skate controls its gunna be like "ok to do this trick, right analog stick, then up, right, down, right, left" or somethin stupid like that
