Mega Man Universe (Canceled)
Keiji Inafune Forms New Company Called 'Comcept'?

Mega Man creator and ex-Capcom R&D Manager and recognised industry figurehead, Keiji Inafune has seemingly revealed the name of his new independent games company following an encounter with an anonymous securities analyst.

Apparently, the two exchanged business cards in Tokyo, and the card Inafune handed to the analyst - who decided to tweet about it - beared the name 'Comcept, which one would naturally assume is the name of Keiji Inafune's post-Capcom company.

Inafune left Capcom in October after 23 years with the company, feeling that he had nowhere left to go within the company. We wait with bated breath to see what he has up his sleeve with his new endeavour in Comcept.

Leaving the dying Capcom for their own company was a great choice for Mikami, Inaba and Kamiya, so this could be a big chance for Inafune-san.

The name may not actually be "Comcept".

In Japan, N and M are technically the same thing. They don't differentiate the two. So it could very well just be "Concept".

Although, if Capcom buys him back, they could have Capcomcept. Good times.

Love Inafune. Met him at NYCC and got his autograph and a picture taken with him. :D

Created an amazing franchise. I can't blame him for leaving after seeing what Capcom did to it. Hopefully by him leading a company he can go back to his roots and expand from there into another amazing franchise. Megaman was my childhood, have nothing but respect for the man. Even if I do disagree that "Japanese gaming is dead".

Good Luck Mr. Keiji Inafune, but he couldn't come up with a company that didn't start with the letter "C"? Seems like Capcom left their imprint in him

#5 prettymuch summed up my thoughts exactly.

It's sad that its now very unlikely we'll ever get another decent MM sequel (was MegaMan Universe even finished before he left?), however I'm excited to see what "Inafking" comes up with next! :D

His role in those games was lightweight, which is a part of why he quit: he wants to make games, not supervise other people doing so.

This always seems to happen to good devs; the company sees their talent is making games and decides that the best use of said talent is to have them watch other people make games.

Recent game sales suggest otherwise. I can't quote anything (as it was a few weeks ago) but read somewhere that they weren't happy with sales of recent games. Most notably SSFIV . . .

Comcept sounds like a lame Comcast subsidiary. I would have thought he would have came up with a better name, and one that distanced himself from Capcom. SSFIV, Res. Evil, Bionic Commando, Mega Man, etc....How the @#$! is Capcom dying?

Capcom isn't dying in the sense that they are in danger of going out of business, Capcom is dying in the sense that their sales figures are continually dropping year to year.

Just look at recent events, RE5 and DMC4 were generally disliked by the fan base. DMC is being sent to a different studio and reworked from the ground up to try something new. The same has been said about the next RE game. Bionic Commando also did poorly.

We'll see how well MvC3 even does. I doubt it will sell any better than SSF4. Mahvel is great and everything, but it's not that popular in Japan and I think the casual gamers won't jump on it en masse like Capcom is hoping.

There is that "bated" breath phrase again. It seems to be enjoying some popularity on this website lately.

Gotta make a mental note of that name, and get any games that have said name on them. Go Inafune!

@16: I don't see the problem considering that is the correct way to spell the phrase.

Resident Evil 5 was amazing. Sure, it wasn't "resident evil" as long time fans know it, but it was still a great game. Buuuut... It is one of Capcom's better games... Few better games.

#19 it was 'OK' and i stress on OK. It had an interesting story but was ruined by the use of co-op story. If it stayed as it was planned WITHOUT Sheva it would have been one of the greatest games ever! but the use of co-op cut down on puzzles because of how unfair it would have been on the other player if one couldnt do the puzzle quickly. I would like to see a single player version with no Sheva involved. I'm interested to see how this develops. We may see a developer company that actually relys on story and isnt forced into co-op to reach a wider audience.

I'd like to see Resident Evil go back to how it was before all the riff-raff climbed onboard the series. Some of us supported the franchise because we liked having a solid, zombie-oriented survival-horror concept. The rumors about there being a new team-based RE game held in Raccoon City gives me wood just thinking about a spiritual-successor to Outbreak.

Good for him!!! Now I am looking to some high octane shooter mixed with RPG and elements of hentai in it for good measure. That would be ground breaking^^
