According to reports from Nikkei, Konami is preparing a complete takeover of Bomberman developer, Hudson, which is scheduled to begin on April 1st. As the parent company of Hudson since 2005, Konami already possesses a 54% stake in the developer, but this upcoming conversion will see the publisher acquiring 100% of the Hudson pie.
As a wholly owned subsidiary, it's hoped that Konami will be able to reinforce its ties within the group with Hudson's stable of titles and its development savvy. Current Hudson CEO Michihiro Ishizuka is also set to step down on March 31st, but he will be replaced by Konami's Kazuhiko Uehara.
As part of the new 100% acquisition of Hudson, Konami is looking at potentially changing the company's name if it decides to combine business operations. Might we suggest Konami Hudson? Or Kondson? No? Suit yourself...
