Paradox Interactive has announced an expansion of its Majesty franchise into the realms of tower defence with Defenders of Ardania on the Xbox Live Arcade. The twist is that as well as enabling you to set up your own tower defences, you'll also be able to play the game from the attacking side and conquer the enemy base.
Featuring some light RTS elements, such as unit production and upgrades, Defenders of Ardania includes three playable races with their own distinct locations and units. Each will also have access to a range of spells and magic in keeping with the fantasy setting and the series' tongue-in-cheek humour.
As well as a single-player campaign, Defenders of Ardania will also cater for 2-4 players in a variety of multiplayer modes in which you can compete against one another, play online or take on AI opponents as either an attacker or defender.
Defenders of Ardania is scheduled to release in Q2 2011 on the Xbox Live Arcade. Check out the announcement trailer, a video interview with Executive Producer, Mattias Lilja and 31 screenshots in the gallery.
