The Gunstringer
Microsoft February Showcase - The Gunstringer Kinect Gameplay Demo

With Microsoft's Kinect device now in the hands of millions of people, having been an unbridled commercial success, it's now high time we got some more games for it, and The Gunstringer looks as though it might just be exactly what the doctor ordered for core and casual gamers alike.

Coming from stalwarts of Xbox Live Arcade development, Twisted Pixel, whose enviable CV includes the likes of The Maw, 'Splosion Man and Comic Jumper, The Gunstringer will be the first Kinect title to come to XBLA and stars an undead cowboy marionette on a quest for revenge.

How exactly will it work though? Enter Jay Stuckwisch, Twisted Pixel's marketing director/studio artist/community manager, to take us through a demo of The Gunstringer on Kinect at Microsoft's February Showcase. With its unique gunplay and puppetry, The Gunstringer certainly looks like it'll be one to watch when it hits XBLA in Q4 2011. For more on the game, check out our The Gunstringer hands-on preview, fresh from the February Showcase. For now though, sit back and see The Gunstringer in action.

Looks good hope they do well I can see COD or Halo using this or even some nutty avatar shooter game to look good ill buy it to see what the kinect can do. well if it pull its off it would be like time crisis and house of the dead come back would be nice to see.

It looks pretty decent. The controls are kind of odd, and this looks like a game you could complete within a 10 hour period.
However, it's also a very nice step forward into what we could eventually get on Kinect (I'm not talking about CoD or Halo).
Nifty idea, though.

@5 it's a real shame but I agree with you. It doesn't look fun, just vanilla.

This doesn't look terrible. It doesn't look like the best game ever either. I guess the price will make or break this one. Too much and no one buys it. Although, Kinect owners want more games.

Certainly not the best game ever. Maybe a way forward for advances into other games like this for Kinect though, who knows. Still haven't found a solid enough reason to buy the Kinect yet.

Nice, this is what Kinect needs instead of the sport and excercise games that are out at the moment.

It doesn't look terrible, I don't know what some of you are on about tbh, it's a step toward better Kinect games like it, you've got to realise this is the first game like this on Kinect and will be interesting to see what more advances are made from it.

There was a gears 3 poster in the background, I would much rather see some more of that than this utter garbage.

Based on the controls so far it seems that you hold one limp wrist and the other at the pseudo shark and hope you don't pass out in the process of play

It's good to see people exploring the technology and using it for something we haven't seen yet. It may be a little simplistic, but from everything I've heard about Twisted Pixel, they should do a good job with it.

Looking good, Twisted Pixel has done nothing but great stuff in my eyes and getting two TP games in one year is definitely a big happy emoticon for me.

Looks fun. Hope you can play sitting down. As long as the controls are responsive, and it's price is good, day 1 buy.

And I was JUST thinking yesterday, "I wonder if there will be any Kinect Arcade games soon..." This looks like it'll be fun. Not real difficult, but very fun nonetheless. A shooter on Kinect will be nice too, even on-rails.

It looks pretty cool. I would like to see the Dead Space game on the Wii pimped out and thrown on the 360 for Kinect.

Any 'shooter' game that comes out for Kinect will HAVE to be on rails, unless they incorporate a controller.

Not a bad concept. I cannot wait to try out the demo and, if it's good, then I'll buy to support Twisted Pixel (good developers, in my opinion).

wow. ANOTHER kinect game. If I didn't know better, they're trying to sell games for the eyet- i mean kinect to try and make it seem like a good product.

Maw was decent. Splosion Man was ok. Comic Jumper was complete garbage. Following that formula, this should be a big fat piece of shit, too.

whats with all the hate in the comments?

Game looks pretty sweet. Reminds me of games like time crisis and the like. And its the first kinect game that has tried something other than dance or fitness or mini games. And to come from a developer that makes arcade games no less.

All their games have been great so far. this looks to be no exception.

damn this looks bad. i feel like this is 5 steps backwards then what most people want. still glad i didn't buy a kinect and i probably won't. i like sit lazy in a chair and game for a few hours. None of my friends that own a kinect actually play it. they use it for netflix and music, which is what i thought most people might use it for.
