Well, it's officially official: Resident Evil 4 HD and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X are both coming to consoles, but not as a collection as first thought. Each will be released as downloadable games via the Xbox Live Arcade, with - as the suffix suggests - enhanced high-definition visuals.
Both games will be released to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, with Resident Evil 4 HD seeing Leon Kennedy stranded in a strange backwards village infested with Las Plaga-infected locals, while Code Veronica has Claire Redfield fighting through the remote Rockfort Island in the wake of the Raccoon City incident. Here, she encounters the insane Alfred Ashford and his even more insane sister, Alexia.
Resident Evil 4 HD will include Ada Wong's 'Separate Ways' campaign whereas Code Veronica X offers the definitive director's cut version of the game released on PS2. Check out some comparison screens of Resident Evil 4 HD, to see the difference between the old standard definition visuals and the shiny new HD look. We can't help but think that the effect is somewhat exaggerated, but you get the idea. You can scrutinise all five shots in the gallery.
Resident Evil 4 HD and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD will be coming to XBLA this fall 2011, with achievements, obviously.
