The plot thickens as the flashy teaser video for what could be Assassin's Creed: Revelations has changed again to display an image of the iconic Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul, Turkey as well as a flickering string of numbers denoting the date '24.06.1459'. This is six years after Istanbul stopped being known as Constantinople, notes Kotaku.

Could the next Assassin's Creed be visiting Istanbul? The latest imagery could be an indication with its incredible Byzantine architecture on display. There's also a flash of yet another mysterious symbol in the video, which again, we have no idea what it might be.

Check out the next part of the next Assassin's Creed's infuriatingly oblique teaser campaign below, and then login to Facebook to try and reveal more.

  • I would like that setting!
  • TURKEY EHHHH?? Im getting the gravy, oh wait..... wrong turkey lol
  • God i wish it was out now
  • Stop teasing me :( Just announce it plz :(
  • There's no misstep with Assassin's Creed...
  • I'm thinking (and kind of hoping) this coincides with some of the events in AC2 and ACB since these took place in the latter half of the 1400's and early 1500's!! There were some recruitment missions in Constantinople...perhaps an expansion on that? I still would have much preferred a different timeline (something closer to the present day) but it appears we'll get a new assassin. I'd like to see what happens directly after the events of the end of ACB which I was hoping would have been done in AC3.
  • Considering Altair was born in the 12th Century, I think it's highly unlikely he'll be around in 1459 (making him 294). So I don't think it will be Altair in this game. Ezio, however was born in 1459, perhaps this relates to his birth? Maybe we play his father, who we know was an assassin. Better yet, his uncle?
  • The date is in fact Ezio's birth date.
  • Oh man, orgasmatron. Tease Tease Tease!!! I still have to play Brotherhood. Oh man....
  • I am pretty sure the PSP Game was set in Turkey Altair traveled there after the events of AC1. Not 100% sure if it was Turkey tho I only played the first level. So maybe its just the psp game ported to xbox360? Or maybe you are the son of Altair growing up in Turkey? Would be pretty cool being taught and sent on missions by Altair.

  • @7 I hope not! I'm done with the Auditore family, give me a new character!
  • @12 - I feel same way. Either way Istanbul, Turkey. time to do some homework. I want new character!
  • @10 I thought it was set in Cyprus?
  • @14 Well i did say i was not 100% sure, But yeah its in Cyprus after some internet searching. I Suck at geography but i am pretty sure i had a friend from Cyprus that spoke Turkish so if both places are near each other i think it would still be cool if Altair made some sort of appearance. Or was a close family member to the Assassin in this game.
  • put it in WW2....oh wait thats the saboteur
  • Considering it's Ezio's birth date, i'm assuming we play as an Auditore, either his father or uncle.
  • I'm leaning toward the Uncle if the lineage is staying the same. The father was present in Italy when Ezio was born. However, since we don know the assassin, there's still a chance for a new lineage, which might shed some light on the ending from AC:B.
  • *don't
  • Ow Yeah ! Neither Altaïr nor Ezio but some fresh flesh (hope so).
  • Ezio's Birthday in english and Altair's name in Arabic... WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!??!?! Please..no more Auditores...I know what happens to them all... ='(
  • I would like to see Altair back, two games with Ezio is enough for now. Not that he's a bad character or anything, he's great, I just want to see more of Altair
  • It looks like Altair is going to be long gone... I was hoping for a game that went deeper into Altair's character but oh well. Assassins Creed is Assassins Creed.
  • since its called revelations maybe it will cover both altair and ezio and will just finish both characters storys before being introduced to a new character in AC3
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqJXxHi6RwQ
  • Hopefully all these AC spinoffs don't dull the experience for #3. Don't get me wrong, AC 1 and 2 I played TO DEATH. Brotherhood was meh and this is sounding pretty similar to that. I want new places and people, so maybe this is the right step as far as that goes, but I think just having 1, 2 and 3 would've been best
  • i'm not so sure if there will be an assassin's creed 3 anymore. they might keep going like this. releasing a 3rd installment after 2 spin offs would be a little weird. or they might release the 3rd game for the next big console.
  • guess we're back in the middle east once again, not complaining or anything
  • I took this screenshot on the Facebook page, it says "eauditore" at the beginning of the code so who knows :p http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g151/zackass67/ACR.jpg
  • Mabye the templars have went back in time to stop Ezio from being born and you have to stop them, or mabye I have been watching too much Dr Who.
  • Considering there is no time travel in any of the AC games, I'd say yes, definitely got TARDIS on the brain.
  • @ 30 - Not really possible. The Animus acts as a genetic memory filter. It's not a time machine. Think of it like DVR. All you can do is watch what happened, and manipulate the timeframe. Whatever happened in the game, happened. ALtair took out the Templars and faced his mentor. Ezio lost his family and eventually assassinated Rodrigo and Cesare Borgia. History was already written. Basically everything you controlled of Altair/Ezio is exactly what they did. Desmond was just "living it" but he couldn't manipulate. He could only adhere with the Bleeding Effect.
  • This could also have to do with Desmonds father who is supposedly still a big part of Assassin's Brotherhood and Legacy. There's hints dropped at William. M(iles) and there's the mysterious Abstergo employee Erudito which is Auditore without the A.
  • Istanbul will be cool. I would also like to see a more recent time, but at a certain point it's not very Assassin's Creed. The Assassin's, even in present time, use the wrist blades. It would be a little weird going after Nazis or Confederates or something with just a blade and your blade-pistol thing with planes flying overhead.
  • Everyone does know that Altair has been in all of the Assassin's Creed games right? So he's going to be in this one two, only thing I'm really looking forward to is killing the doctor! DR. WARREN VIDIC is going down! Can't wait for Desmond to finally kill him!
  • @7 and 17. If were still playing as Desmond (and god help Ubisoft if we're not) it can't be Ezio's uncle. DNA only stores the memory of Desmond's exact bloodline. Unless Mario boned Ezio's mom it would have to be his father we'd be playing as and then only up to Ezio's conception.
  • Haha, wow how did I overlook that? I'm not really a big fan of Ezio's father as an assassin though.
  • Well I'm thinking this game takes place after Ezio since you can see a flash of the Tughra in the trailer. The Tughra is a signature and the specific one was for Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and he was from 1520-1566! http://www.metmuseum.org/works_of_art/collection_database/islamic_art/tughra_official_signature_of_sultan_suleiman_the/objectview_enlarge.aspx?page=351&sort=0&sortdir=asc&keyword=&fp=1&dd1=14&dd2=0&vw=1&collID=14&OID=140006810&vT=1&hi=0&ov=0
  • Perhaps we will finally learn what that song is all about... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vankaSlfSr0
  • this would be awesome. i recently came back from istanbul two weeks ago and i went to see this. it was awesome
  • @30 You can never watch too much Doctor Who :P Anyway, I'm not really bothered about a new AC, i'm pretty tired of the series right now. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably get Revelations at some point, but if it comes out this year it'll be one of the games I hold of on till the Summer'2012 drought hits us.
  • okay, turkey. alot of history. should be good. i've the 3 Assassins Creed + Da Vinci Disappearance, i like it. when i see the New Assassin Creed Street Dated, i'll pick it up. GO TO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul
  • The Fall of Constantinople in 1453 signaled the end of the Byzantine Empire.
  • @12 how can you be done with Ezio Auditore da Firenze?! It's like taking Commander Shepard out of Mass Effect 3. I think they've stuck with Ezio, since they can't go further in time, due to weapons *cough*guns*cough* being in plethora!
  • I hope it's not Altair or Ezio again, we've seen enough important stuff from those two. I'm not sure what to say about the storyline in general, now; with the endings and "The Truth" videos from AC2 and ACB, the plot seems to have accelerated in a way that another character from the past would feel like a sidestep of the most important issues. Spoiler: With Juno and Minerva showing up prophesizing the end of the world from the sun exploding, Desmond and co. finding the Apple of Eden, the suggestion from Subject 16 (in the ACB "Truth" video) that you're actually playing as Desmond's son who's in another animus, playing his father's memories of the events of the first two games... It just feels like using the animus to play around as some tool in Istanbul will fail to address these enormous plot details. They kind of need to continue the push in the sci-fi direction because the past two games have really accelerated that aspect. I didn't realize just how far these games would take it until you find the giant neon lit steel spaceship room with a Juno alien hologram talking to "you" through the screen.
  • The numbers say 24061459, or 24-06-1459, could be the year it's based around...
  • ^^^ Wow, this guy is really on top of things. Sharp as a tack, truly. They basically state it in the article, bro.
