As is the case with every Game Informer exclusive reveal, it’s not long before details from the feature are spilled all over the internet. Yesterday Ubisoft announced its next Assassin’s Creed title and today, the internet is awash is all kinds of revelations – seewhutIdidthar?

The information comes courtesy of NeoGAF once again, and reveals that Ezio will spend most of his time in Constantinople in its 4 huge districts (Constantin, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata; as well as visiting Cappadocia) searching for seals to peek into Altair’s life – much like Desmond does with his ancestors. Yes, you’ll take control of both Altair and a 50 year old Ezio, as well as Desmond.

Ezio has access to a new item called a “hookblade,” which allows him to use ziplines throughout the city – speeding up navigation by 30% according to Ubisoft Montreal – which doubles up as a weapon allowing him to reach out and pull enemies in for a combo. The control scheme as such has been modified slightly to incorporate this new item and with a new crafting system for bombs – of which there are 300 bomb types – the combat sees a few changes.

Eagle Vision becomes “Eagle Sense,” which according to Creative Director, Alexandre Amancio, “Let's you focus on a character and see where he's been. You'll get an approximation of where he will go. If you're able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush.”

Borgia Towers have been expanded to become Assassin’s Dens which you must assault to take down the Templar presence – there’s more variety this time as well. Once obtained, you can upgrade buildings in the region to include ziplines and change guards from hostile to neutral, amongst other things. You can, however, lose control of these Dens as you gain notoriety, but you can send your own troops in to protect it and you can even appoint a master assassin to control it and protect it from future attacks.

Traditional side missions make way in favour of random events – like a shop owner being robbed or a little girl asking for help – and Revelations’ Mocam facial technology, according to Game Informer, is also said to be on par with LA Noire’s. You’ll also be able to customise your character’s appearance and weapons, as well as create guilds.

Desmond is back too, jumping back into the Animus where he finds a safe mode called the “Black Room,” which allows him to access lost memories through a back door. Desmond’s gameplay sequences are described as “narrative-fuelled puzzle sequences.

What about multiplayer though? According to GI, it returns, but this time it’s more about the narrative since that’s at the core of Assassin’s Creed, which will no doubt please fans.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is scheduled for a 2011 release. Expect more info from E3 next month.

  • Man.... I still need to play brotherhood. Better get caught up!
  • Ezio and Altier are cool but,Ubisoft can I play as a new assassin plz !
  • I was hoping for a new assassin in a new era, but playiing as Altair again makes up for it.
  • This is going to be EPIC!
  • It would be nice if they would've given hints to AC III instead of another spin-off of II. Also as much as I like playing Assassin's Creed, I hope that Ubi doesn't run it into the ground.
  • well the title is official. all we need now is proof of the street date official, may come out 2012
  • but it good to end the Assassin Creed Series in Turkey. Official Assassin’s Creed 3 is Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
  • Well, at least it 'sounds' like they're focusing more on the single player than the multi-player this time around. Yeah... one can hope. This is mostly sounding good, accept for the Desmond part. What the hell does it mean "narrative-fuelled puzzle sequences"? Does that mean we're not gonna see whats up with.... SPOILER!!!... Desmond killing Lucy, and we're not gonna see Shaun and Rebecca at all or what? That would suck, as I loved Shaun's dialogue...haha. I also can't wait to see what you'll be doing as Altair as I thought his story ended on PSP and/or DS games. Ubisoft! After this, I WANT A PROPER AC3 DAMMIT. Quit trying to keep the franchise going forever. Look at Mass Effect. You had 1, then 2, and now 3 coming soon. After that is when you focus on non important spin offs. :)
  • @7 proof of such claims? I believe the final addition to Desmonds story may be in 2012 due to its importance in the story line... Revelations may be the final build up to the 2012 game. I'm assuming Desmond will need to find the locations of lairs from both Altair and Ezio's memmory which will aid him later.
  • I don't mind another title as Ezio. There's a lot of story going on back there during the Renaissance that Brotherhood didn't quite close out. All of these changes seem to be for the better, as well. After playing RDR, the open world of ACB just didn't really feel as genuine given a complete lack of events that occur around you. Hopefully Revelations feels more "lived in" and not just busy.
  • Is it Assassin's Creed? Then I'm happy.
  • I really enjoyed the last few iterations of the series, but Ezio is wearing his welcome. I never read the comic series but saw from the cover that it looked like it was taking place in Egypt...that would've been sweet! maybe in AC3?
  • They really know how to keep a series fresh and exciting.
  • Ezio is probably my favorite video game character of all time. Are they gonna bring back the whole Brotherhood system where you train a team of assassins?
  • so, ezio is gonna swing round the city like spiderman with that hookblade i presume? lol
  • I know this will build onto an already brilliant story line, but I was just expecting it to end by now. I was hoping for AC3 where you control Desmond and do stuff with the temples stated in AC2 and save the world... sounds kinda like the books 'seven ancient wonders', 'six sacred stones' and 'five greatest warriors' by Matthew Riley
  • I cant wait i love this series and any spin off or add on i will own because the story is so well done... cant wait for this newest addition...
  • I was a bit scared when Ubisoft announced AC : Brotherhood. I didn't expected much from a 2.5 version. I must admit I was completely wrong : I loved this game. Any kind of Assassin's Creed is good, bring it on !! I want more ! But make it more challenging, AC2 and Brotherhood were way to easy !!
  • Brotherhood may have been filler, but it was amazing and awesome filler. This doesn't bother me at all, bring on the Assassins ;)
  • All those zip-lines - it may just turn into Naruto: ROAN! lol - Still Im looking forward to this like crazy now! :) - sod it - I was against altair and ezio;s return but now it looks as if they will finish off their arc! :)
  • I really can't wait for it now, and the hook blade sounds really interesting. I also like that it's going to be in a whole new area, despite playing as Ezio and Altair again. I think it's gunna be an awesome game.
  • OMG! I might actually pee my pants when this is released. I absolutely LOVE the Assassin's Creed story. AHHHH *runs around*
  • bombs were never that useful
  • This sounds interesting ... though I doubt I'll find the bombs very useful at all. The hook blade sounds interesting but at the same time, it may make escaping too easy. Also, when they said Ezio could use the hook blade to pull enemies closer, did anyone else think of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat? I'm assuming Desmond's section is going to be similar to the bit in Brotherhood where you meet Subject 16. Sounds interesting but I want to know more about what happened at the end with Minerva. Bring on the multiplayer, hopefully they don't change it too much - Brotherhood's system was nearly perfect.
  • I don't BOMBS is what I wanted from the series.
  • I love Assassin's Creed but we need Patrice Désilets back.
  • Cannot wait cannot wait cannot wait! *Drools with excitement* I really hope we get some answers in this one, The ending of Brotherhood has left me lusting for more!
  • Said it im the last news and i'll say it again.. Can't fucking wait!!!
  • 25@ - Yes! i will be shouting 'come ova here!' while using that move! Love the AC series, but would really like a new era to play in
  • looks like a brill game, but, i dont have the time to max ANOTHER AC game lol i maxed AC2 and AC Brotherhood just for fun but its gonna end up like a chore soon unless they give us new assassins.
  • finally the rubbish multiplayer takes a backseat. I'd much rather have a more detailed single player, thats what its all about after all!
  • Woot woot! Crazy excited :D
  • Any jerk-off developer can make a great multiplayer. It takes a master of design to make a great campaign mode. Kudos to Ubisoft for seeing the error of their ways and returning to the path less traveled.
  • Buying AC every November is slowly becoming a ritual. Not that that's a bad thing. But I do hope that they bring back the whole process of preparing the hit (just make it less boring) and not just getting there and killing everyone. I want to know where the guards are, set up ambushes and running away after the kill like in AC1 instead of just piling up corpses on the ground until the guards get too scared/bored to chase me.
  • Damn. One thing that I keep thinking about is how are you still able to view Ezio's life when he's 50? We've seen in Assassin's Creed 2 that when an ancestor impregnates someone, the memories stop there as they were put into the descendant. Ezio got mad pussy, this is fact, but was he even able to "get it up" at age 50? If he can still has all that parkour shit goin' on and all the killing and whatnot, I'm sure he could...but still.
  • How the hell is a 50 year old going to do free running
  • A 50 year old Ezio? No thank you, I like my much younger Ezio, thank you very much.
  • Well actually, Ezio was 41 in Brotherhood, so it's not THAT much of a age difference
  • I hope this doesn't go the way of COD and Guitar Hero, too many games in too short an amount of time.
  • yes...just yes
  • This is meh. Instead of finishing up the trilogy first they keep adding and adding side story. Halo, gears, mass effect, uncharted, god of war are just a few that actually finished (or will finish) actual story before adding to it. As frustrated as I am, I will defnitely buy this, because knowing UBI it will connect very well with next game (which I have more doubts that will be the last either...)
  • @39 Actually he was 48 at the 'end' of Brotherhood. I hope I'm able to free run at that age... Yeah, Ezio will always be badass.
  • I really hope it gets released at the end of this year, i really want to know what happens after the end of Brotherhood! D: its been bugging me for months >.
  • this sounds orgasmic mmmmmmmmmm more stabby stabby hehehehehehehehehe though the zipline effect is kind of a blatant rip off of the new bioshock, but hopefully it'll be kickass.
  • I bet Ezio is going to die at the end of this game.
  • @36 & 37. Ezio is usuualy constantly fighting / free running so he is always xercising. So just because he is 50 dosn't mean he should be able to free run, he's probably the fittest person alive back then!
  • It's gonna be hard not to buy this on release...
  • Why are they reffering to is as Constantinople? It will only be Constantinople in Altaïr's memories. Ezio was born in 1459 so if he is 50 years old then its now 1509 when he travels there. Constantinople fell in 1453. They should be reffering to the city as Istanbul.
  • So I'm the first one to spot this typo: "the internet is awash is all kinds of revelations – seewhutIdidthar?" It should be awash "with" all kinds of revelations, nice try, Webbo ;)
  • Going to be a shame to say farewell to Ezio after this... he was my favorite game character of all time... :( But anyway, looking forward to this, as long as Assassins Creed doesn't change much it will be awesome for years to come.
  • Glad to hear towers have been expanded. It was fun to take them down, especially the well guarded ones, but it'll be nice to have to manage the city more and it was unrealistic that you could defeat it then forget, as there was never any retaliation.
  • any AC news is good news!
  • It's good to see another Assassin's Creed just wish they would drop the multiplayer, Assassin's Creed will always be an awesome SINGLE PLAYER game, in my opinion
  • By the end of this Desmonds mind will be gone hes already half crazy due to the Animus and SPOILER being possesed by the god like holothingSPOILEREND but now hes basicaly reliving Ezio who is reliving Altair. Also if Ezios 50 by the start hell probrably die somwhere in this game(near or at the end of course.)
  • New 1700's time period + character pls
  • I'll buy it when they make an actual new game and not a glorified dlc. Ezio is cool and all but he has over stayed his welcome.
  • @#2 I agree I was just thinking that its stupid to have ezio back for a third game. The AC storyline is bigger then just ezio and its like they're only focusing on him now. He was an awsome character to play but i'm not exctly looking forward to playin' as him again, however i am dedicated to this series.
  • lemme guess...November release Well there goes my November
  • I'm fine with it being Ezio again .. he was pretty awesome, and I think they can go on and craft a good story. But (as with DaVinci expansion pack) -- my Ezio is already WAY overpowered. It's because of this I think they should tell a different Assassin story... start us as a wimp and make falling from buildings and combat something that is actually dangerous.
  • I would like to see this 50 year old Ezio. How old is Ezio supposed to be in Brotherhood? I'd gauge him at around 28 but I'm not sure if it's every really said or not.
  • well its sad to see series end, Assassin Creed and Gears 3. but you want to End On A Good Note, its the end, but memories will carry on. bye assassin creed and gear 3 series, i had fun and i enjoy the ride, from Assassin Creed 1 to Now, gear 1 to now, the memories will live on. :(
  • I hope they could continue the assassins creed from somebody elses' point of view
