Now before you get too excited, bear in mind that the ESRB ratings board doesn't exactly have a 100% record when it comes to confirming games, so this is by no means concrete, but a rating for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has been spied for Xbox 360.
This could mean that the oft-mooted console version of The Witcher 2 is indeed on the cards, bringing with it "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs" according to the ESRB description. As a result, the game is carrying an 'M for Mature' classification from the American ESRB ratings board.
This ties in with news from developer CD Projekt, telling Eurogamer that the Polish studio is working on something Witcher-related "that console gamers might be interested in". No prizes for guessing what that might be, especially given that a console version of The Witcher 2 has always been part of the plan for CD Projekt, although the lead PC version was the top priority before setting to work on the console iteration.
It could be that The Witcher 2 comes to consoles as an entirely new project altogether if rumours are to be believed. It's not an official confirmation for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on Xbox 360, but it's a start. Keep an eye out for more Witcher 2 news, probably from E3 2011.
